UBUNTU-CVE-2026-74460: Medium severity ubuntu/linux vulnerability
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: can: emsusb: validate CPC message lengths emsusbreadbulkcallback() walks CPC messages packed in one USB receive buffer. Check that each declared message fits in the URB payload. Also require the type-specific payload to cover the fields used by the CAN, state, error and overrun handlers.

In the ems_usb driver, validate that each CPC message's type-specific payload contains all fields required by the CAN, state, error, and overrun handlers, and verify that the declared message length fits within the received URB payload before processing it.

Frequently Asked Questions
Which Ubuntu kernel package variants are listed as affected?
The listed software includes ubuntu/linux, ubuntu/linux-fips, ubuntu/linux-aws, ubuntu/linux-azure, ubuntu/linux-gcp, ubuntu/linux-aws-fips, ubuntu/linux-azure-fips, and ubuntu/linux-gcp-fips.
What input is required to reach the vulnerable code path?
The issue is in the USB receive callback that processes CPC messages packed into a USB receive buffer. Exploitation would require a CPC message whose declared length does not fit within the URB payload or whose type-specific payload is too short for fields used by the relevant handlers.
