UBUNTU-CVE-2026-74464: Medium severity ubuntu/linux-aws vulnerability
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: net: openvswitch: fix skb leak on flow key update failure during ct ovsctexecute() always steals or frees the skb on failure while ovsflowkeyupdate() does not. So, if it fails and we return right away, the skb ends up leaked. Fix that by breaking instead and letting the common error handling code at the bottom of the loop to free the skb properly. This is a very unlikely scenario as it requires the packet to become unparseable by applying a set of actions on a previously parseable skb, but should be fixed nevertheless. Reported by Sashiko.

In ovs_ct_execute(), handle ovs_flow_key_update() failure by breaking instead of returning immediately, so the common error-handling path at the bottom of the loop frees the skb properly.

Frequently Asked Questions
What systems are exposed to this issue?
The affected software list includes Ubuntu Linux kernel packages for standard, AWS, Azure, GCP, FIPS, AWS FIPS, Azure FIPS, and GCP FIPS variants. Exposure depends on using Open vSwitch connection-tracking processing that reaches the affected flow key update path.
What conditions are required to trigger the leak?
A packet that was previously parseable must become unparseable after a set of actions is applied, causing ovs_flow_key_update() to fail during connection-tracking processing. The description characterizes this as a very unlikely scenario.
What is the impact if the flaw is triggered?
The packet buffer (skb) can be leaked because the error path returns before the common cleanup code frees it. Repeated triggering could consume kernel memory.
What does the fix change?
Instead of returning immediately when the flow key update fails, the code breaks to the common error-handling path, which frees the skb properly.
