Frequently Asked Questions
Who can trigger the affected ioctl paths?
A local user with low privileges can invoke the affected private ioctl commands on s390 qeth network devices if the capability check is absent.
Which operations should be restricted to administrators?
The affected operations are SIOC_QETH_ADP_SET_SNMP_CONTROL, SIOC_QETH_GET_CARD_TYPE, and SIOC_QETH_QUERY_OAT. The resolved kernel change requires CAP_NET_ADMIN before these commands can be used.
