UBUNTU-CVE-2026-74490: Use After Free
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: tipc: avoid use-after-free in poll trace queue dumps TIPC socket tracepoints dump queue state through tipcskdump(). Most queue-dump callsites already serialize that walk under the socket lock or sk->sklock.slock, but tipcpoll() calls tracetipcskpoll(..., TIPCDUMPALL, ...) without holding either lock. That lets the poll trace path reach tipclistdump() and backlog head/tail dumping while another context dequeues and frees an skb, leaving the trace helper dereferencing a stale queue entry. Stop the unlocked poll trace site from requesting queue dumps. Other queue dump trace callsites keep their existing output under the locking they already provide, while poll still emits the event itself without walking live queue members from an unlocked context.

Change tipc_poll() so its trace_tipc_sk_poll(..., TIPC_DUMP_ALL, ...) call does not request queue dumps while running without the socket lock.
Linux kernel TIPC poll tracing trace_tipc_sk_poll dump mode = do not request TIPC_DUMP_ALL

Frequently Asked Questions
What level of access does an attacker need to exploit this issue?
The vulnerability is rated network-accessible with low attack complexity and requires low privileges. It does not require user interaction.
Which Ubuntu kernel packages are listed as affected?
The listed packages are ubuntu/linux, ubuntu/linux-azure, ubuntu/linux-gcp, ubuntu/linux-aws-fips, ubuntu/linux-azure-fips, ubuntu/linux-fips, ubuntu/linux-gcp-fips, and ubuntu/linux-realtime.
What is the security impact if exploitation succeeds?
The rating indicates high impact to confidentiality, integrity, and availability, with scope unchanged.
What does the fix change in the affected code path?
The fix prevents the unlocked poll trace site from requesting queue dumps. Poll tracing still emits its event, but it no longer walks live queue members without the required locking.
