Frequently Asked Questions

1

Who is realistically exposed to this issue?

Systems running one of the listed Ubuntu kernel package families are in scope. Exploitation is local and involves the Bluetooth HCI periodic advertising synchronization connection path.

2

What does an attacker need to exploit it?

The supplied vector indicates an attacker needs local access, low privileges, no user interaction, and high attack complexity. The vulnerable condition is a theoretical use-after-free when a connection is freed while an HCI synchronization task is still running.

3

What is the potential impact if exploitation succeeds?

The provided severity vector rates confidentiality, integrity, and availability impacts as high, with no impact on a separate security authority. The reported severity is high with a score of 7.3.
