Frequently Asked Questions
What conditions are required to trigger this issue?
An attacker needs local access with low privileges and must trigger a race in which an IPv6 statistics lookup references an original physical network device after that device has been unregistered. User interaction is not required.
What is the likely impact if the issue is exploited?
The affected kernel may dereference a NULL device pointer, causing an availability impact such as a kernel crash or denial of service. The supplied severity vector indicates no direct impact to confidentiality or integrity.
Which Ubuntu kernel packages should be reviewed?
Review systems using ubuntu/linux, ubuntu/linux-azure, ubuntu/linux-gcp, ubuntu/linux-aws-fips, ubuntu/linux-azure-fips, ubuntu/linux-fips, ubuntu/linux-gcp-fips, or ubuntu/linux-realtime.
