Event History
Frequently Asked Questions
Which systems are most likely to encounter this issue?
The warning is associated with the HNS RoCE RDMA driver and occurs during a driver or device reset. Systems not using that driver or its RDMA completion queues are not described as affected by the available data.
What event triggers the warning?
A reset causes the driver to invoke the completion handler for a direct-mode completion queue allocated through ib_alloc_cq(). Although that handler is not expected to run in direct mode, it is called during reset and triggers WARN_ONCE().
How can administrators identify that the issue has occurred?
Check kernel logs for the WARN_ONCE call trace beginning with ib_cq_completion_direct and hns_roce_cq_completion, with reset-related functions such as hns_roce_handle_device_err and hclge_reset_rebuild in the trace.
