Frequently Asked Questions

1

Which systems are exposed to this issue?

The issue applies to the listed Ubuntu kernel packages: linux-riscv, linux-realtime, linux-hwe-edge, linux-azure, linux-gcp, linux-azure-fde, linux-gke, and linux-aws-5.0. It is specific to the Linux kernel UFS subsystem.

2

What condition is required to trigger the NULL pointer dereference?

The UFS RPMB probe, ufs_rpmb_probe(), must fail, followed by device teardown. Without initialization of the hba->rpmbs list, that teardown path can dereference a NULL pointer.
