UBUNTU-CVE-2026-80714: High severity ubuntu/linux vulnerability
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ipvs: do not propagate one-packet flag to synced conns Synced connections can be created before their destination exists. When the destination is later added, ipvsbinddest() copies connection flags from the destination into cp->flags. IPVSCONNFONEPACKET connections are not synced. If a synced connection inherits IPVSCONNFONEPACKET while it is already hashed, expiry can treat it as a one-packet connection and skip unlinking the existing conntab node, leaving stale hash nodes pointing at a freed struct ipvsconn. Drop IPVSCONNFONEPACKET from destination flags when binding synced connections.

Frequently Asked Questions
Which Ubuntu kernel packages are listed as affected?
The listed packages are ubuntu/linux, ubuntu/linux-fips, ubuntu/linux-aws, ubuntu/linux-azure, ubuntu/linux-aws-fips, ubuntu/linux-azure-fips, ubuntu/linux-gcp, and ubuntu/linux-gcp-fips.
What conditions are required for this issue to occur?
The issue involves an IPVS synced connection created before its destination exists. The destination must later be added, and the connection must inherit the one-packet flag while it is already present in the connection hash table.
What level of access does an attacker need?
The provided severity vector indicates local access and low privileges are required, with high attack complexity. No user interaction is required.
What is the potential security impact?
The severity vector rates confidentiality, integrity, and availability impacts as high. The described condition can leave stale hash entries pointing to a freed IPVS connection structure.
