UBUNTU-CVE-2026-80715: Medium severity ubuntu/linux-hwe-edge vulnerability
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: igc: remove napisynchronize() in igcdown() When an AFXDP zero-copy application is killed abruptly, the XSK pool is torn down but NAPI keeps polling. igccleanrxirqzc() then returns the full budget on every poll, so napicompletedone() never clears NAPISTATESCHED. igcdown() calls napisynchronize() before napidisable(), so it spins forever waiting for that bit and the interface never goes down. Drop the napisynchronize() and let napidisable() do the job -- it sets NAPISTATEDISABLE, which forces the stuck poll to complete. Reorder it ahead of igcsetqueuenapi() so the NAPI mapping is cleared only after polling has stopped, matching the recent igb fix b1e067240379.

In igc_down(), remove the napi_synchronize() call and reorder the logic so it occurs ahead of igc_set_queue_napi(), allowing napi_disable() to stop polling before the NAPI mapping is cleared.

Frequently Asked Questions
Which systems are exposed to this issue?
Systems using the affected Ubuntu kernel packages are exposed only when the Intel igc network driver is in use and an AF_XDP application uses zero-copy mode. The failure occurs when that application is killed abruptly while NAPI polling continues.
What is the practical impact of exploitation?
An abrupt AF_XDP zero-copy application termination can leave NAPI scheduled indefinitely. When igc_down() then waits on NAPI synchronization, it can spin forever and prevent the network interface from being brought down.
Does exploitation require remote access or user interaction?
The supplied severity vector identifies local attack vector, low attack complexity, high privileges required, and no user interaction. The described trigger requires control of an AF_XDP zero-copy application and its abrupt termination.
