UBUNTU-CVE-2026-80732: Use After Free
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ata: patasl82c105: fix bridge revision use-after-free pcigetslot() returns a referenced PCI device. Commit 44c10138fd4b ("PCI: Change all drivers to use pcidevice->revision") replaced a configuration-space read with direct access to the cached revision field, but left that access after pcidevput(). The bridge may therefore be freed before its revision is read. Read the revision before dropping the reference.

Frequently Asked Questions
Which systems are realistically exposed to this issue?
The affected software list includes Ubuntu Linux kernel packages for standard, AWS, Azure, GCP, and FIPS variants. Exposure is tied to use of the pata_sl82c105 ATA driver and the relevant PCI bridge path.
What level of access does an attacker need to exploit it?
The severity vector indicates local attack vector, low attack complexity, low privileges required, and no user interaction. An attacker would need local access with low-level privileges; no remote attack path is indicated.
What is the impact if exploitation succeeds?
The provided severity vector rates confidentiality, integrity, and availability impacts as high. The flaw is a use-after-free involving access to a PCI bridge revision after its reference has been dropped.
