UBUNTU-CVE-2026-80757: Medium severity ubuntu/linux vulnerability
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: selinux: reject a class permission count below its inherited common securitygetpermissions() maps an inherited common's permissions into an array sized by the class's own permissions.nprim, but classread() takes that nprim verbatim from the policy image and never checks that it covers the common. A class that inherits a common of N permissions while declaring a smaller nprim is accepted, and on load the common's permissions are written past the class-sized array -- an out-of-bounds heap write. Reject a class whose permission count is below its inherited common's. Well-formed policies, where the class count already includes the inherited permissions, are unaffected.

Frequently Asked Questions
Who is exposed to this issue?
Systems using the listed Ubuntu Linux kernel packages are exposed when SELinux loads a policy containing a class that inherits a common permission set but declares fewer permissions than that common.
What does an attacker need to exploit it?
Exploitation requires a malformed SELinux policy image with an inherited common whose permission count exceeds the inheriting class's declared permission count. The provided data does not state how an attacker could obtain the ability to supply or load such a policy.
Are standard well-formed SELinux policies affected?
No. Policies in which each class's permission count includes the permissions inherited from its common are unaffected.
What can be done before applying the fix?
Do not load SELinux policies in which a class declares fewer permissions than an inherited common. Validate policy images so that each inheriting class's permission count is at least the inherited common's count.
