UBUNTU-CVE-2026-80867: Medium severity ubuntu/linux-hwe-edge vulnerability
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: alpha/PCI: Add securitylockeddown() check to pcimmapresource() Currently, Alpha's pcimmapresource() does not check securitylockeddown(LOCKDOWNPCIACCESS) before allowing userspace to mmap PCI BARs. The generic version has had this check since commit eb627e17727e ("PCI: Lock down BAR access when the kernel is locked down") to prevent DMA attacks when the kernel is locked down. Add the same check to Alpha's pcimmapresource().

Add the security_locked_down(LOCKDOWN_PCI_ACCESS) check to Alpha's pci_mmap_resource() before allowing userspace to mmap PCI BARs.

Frequently Asked Questions
Which systems are most relevant to this issue?
The issue is specific to the Alpha architecture implementation of pci_mmap_resource(). It affects scenarios where userspace can request memory mappings of PCI BAR resources on an Alpha Linux kernel.
What condition makes the missing check significant?
The missing check matters when the kernel is in lockdown mode, which is intended to restrict PCI BAR access and reduce DMA attack risk. Alpha's implementation did not enforce the LOCKDOWN_PCI_ACCESS restriction before permitting the mapping.
What would an attacker need to do?
An attacker would need the ability to make userspace request an mmap of a PCI BAR through the affected Alpha PCI resource-mapping path. The described impact is bypassing the expected lockdown restriction on that access.
