UBUNTU-CVE-2026-80912: Medium severity ubuntu/linux vulnerability
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: selinux: reject an unclaimed class value in securitygetclasses() securitygetclasses() sizes an array by pclasses.nprim and fills it at value - 1, so a class value the policy never defines leaves a NULL. selmakeclasses() passes every entry to selmakedir(), reaching the same dallocname() dereference as the permission array. The class symbol table is allowed to be sparse (policydbclassisvalid() exists to absorb that), but this getter builds its own array straight from the hash table and has no such predicate. Fail the lookup when a value went unclaimed instead of handing out the NULL. Conforming policies define every class they declare and are unaffected.

Frequently Asked Questions
Who is realistically exposed to this issue?
Systems running one of the listed Ubuntu Linux kernel packages are potentially affected only when SELinux processes a policy with an unclaimed class value. Conforming SELinux policies, which define every declared class, are unaffected.
What does an attacker need to exploit this?
The issue requires a policy whose class symbol table is sparse, leaving a class value unclaimed. The provided information does not establish how an attacker could introduce or cause such a policy to be processed.
How can I determine whether my policy is affected?
Review the SELinux policy for declared class values that are not defined in its class symbol table. Affected policies have a sparse class table; conforming policies define every class they declare.
