Frequently Asked Questions
Which Ubuntu kernel packages are listed as affected?
The listed packages are ubuntu/linux-fips, ubuntu/linux, ubuntu/linux-aws, ubuntu/linux-azure, ubuntu/linux-aws-fips, ubuntu/linux-azure-fips, ubuntu/linux-gcp-fips, and ubuntu/linux-gcp.
What condition triggers the overflow?
The overflow occurs in dm raid1 build_constructor_string() when sprintf() writes a long long value requiring up to 20 decimal digits without reserving space for the terminating NUL byte.
What is the remediation described for this issue?
The resolved fix reserves space for the terminating NUL character after the maximum 20 decimal digits of a long long value in build_constructor_string().
