Systems running one of the listed Ubuntu kernel packages may be affected when an SGP30 chemical sensor is probed. The failure path requires creation of the sensor's IAQ kernel thread to fail.

The driver can register the device even though its IAQ thread was not created. When the device is later removed, the driver may pass an error pointer to kthread_stop().

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: iio: chemical: sgp30: Handle IAQ thread creation failure kthreadrun() can fail and return an error pointer, but sgpprobe() stores it and returns success, so the device is registered without its IAQ thread and sgpremove() later passes the error pointer to kthreadstop(). Return the error from probe instead.
