UBUNTU-CVE-2026-90300: Medium severity ubuntu/linux-hwe-edge vulnerability
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: bpf: Clear buf on error in bpfgettaskstack Both bpfgettaskstack and bpfgettaskstacksleepable helpers that use bpfgettaskstack have buf defined as ARGPTRTOUNINITMEM argument and we should initialize the buf on every return path. Adding missing buf memset for bpfgettaskstack fail paths. This provides deterministic buffer contents, which is useful when the buffer is used directly as a map key.

Frequently Asked Questions
Who is realistically exposed to this issue?
Exploitation requires local access and high privileges. It is relevant to systems where privileged code can use the affected BPF task-stack helpers and their output buffers, including when such buffers are used directly as map keys.
What is the security impact if the issue is exploited?
The reported impact is limited to confidentiality. The supplied severity vector indicates low confidentiality impact and no integrity or availability impact.
