UBUNTU-CVE-2026-90351: Low severity ubuntu/linux-hwe-edge vulnerability

Published Sep 17, 2026
·
Updated

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: wifi: mt76: mt7996: do not attach hif2 WED when the main WED attach failed If the WED attach for the primary PCIe function fails, the probe path still attached wedhif2 for the secondary function, leaving the device in an inconsistent half-WED configuration that crashes later. The hif2 call also re-enabled hwrromode, which the failed primary attach had just turned off. Skip the hif2 WED setup when the primary WED device is not active.

Frequently Asked Questions

1

What conditions are required for this issue to occur?

The primary PCIe function's WED attachment must fail, while the probe path proceeds to attach WED for the secondary hif2 function. This leaves a half-configured WED state and re-enables hwrro_mode after the failed primary attachment disabled it.

2

What is the likely operational impact?

The inconsistent half-WED configuration can cause the device to crash later. The provided information does not identify a specific crash signature or detection log message.

3

Which Ubuntu kernel package families are listed as affected?

The listed packages are ubuntu/linux-riscv, ubuntu/linux-realtime, ubuntu/linux-azure, ubuntu/linux-gcp, ubuntu/linux-azure-fde, ubuntu/linux-gke, ubuntu/linux-hwe-edge, and ubuntu/linux-gkeop.
