Updated

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: scsi: ufs: Avoid NULL CQE dereference when reporting invalid tags The single-doorbell completion path can call ufshcdcomplonecqe() with a NULL CQE. If no command is associated with the completion tag, the warning message dereferences the CQE while reporting the error. Avoid that dereference and include the invalid tag in the warning.

Frequently Asked Questions

1

Which Ubuntu kernel package lines should be assessed for this issue?

The affected software list includes ubuntu/linux-riscv, ubuntu/linux-realtime, ubuntu/linux-hwe-edge, ubuntu/linux-azure, ubuntu/linux-gcp, ubuntu/linux-azure-fde, ubuntu/linux-gke, and ubuntu/linux-aws-5.0.

2

What condition reaches the vulnerable reporting path?

The single-doorbell completion path must process a completion tag with no associated command. In that condition, it can call ufshcd_compl_one_cqe() with a NULL CQE, and the warning-reporting code dereferences that CQE.
