UBUNTU-CVE-2026-92486: Medium severity ubuntu/linux-hwe-edge vulnerability
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: bpf: Fix CFI mismatch in task work callback BPF subprograms use the bpfcallbackt ABI, but task work invokes the callback through a three-argument function pointer. This trips kCFI. Store and invoke the callback as bpfcallbackt.

Frequently Asked Questions
Which Ubuntu kernel packages are identified as affected?
The affected packages listed are ubuntu/linux-riscv, ubuntu/linux-realtime, ubuntu/linux-hwe-edge, ubuntu/linux-azure, ubuntu/linux-gcp, ubuntu/linux-azure-fde, ubuntu/linux-gke, and ubuntu/linux-aws-5.0.
What condition is involved in triggering the issue?
The issue involves BPF subprograms used as task-work callbacks. It is triggered when task work invokes a callback through a three-argument function pointer while the BPF subprogram uses the bpf_callback_t ABI, causing a kCFI mismatch.
Is control-flow integrity relevant to exposure?
Yes. The described failure specifically trips kCFI because the task-work callback is invoked through a function-pointer type that does not match the BPF callback ABI.
