UBUNTU-CVE-2026-93132: Medium severity ubuntu/linux-hwe-edge vulnerability

Updated

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ACPI: RISC-V: Fix riscvacpiaddprtdep() loop handling The loop in riscvacpiaddprtdep() includes error conditions that are handled in a dubious - if not outright wrong - way, by continuining the loop (which skips and misses the entry pointer update to point to the next entry). Rewrite the loop as a for loop (that handles the continuation correctly) and wrap the condition and update statements using helper functions to make it cleaner.

Frequently Asked Questions

1

Which Ubuntu kernel packages are listed as affected?

The listed packages are ubuntu/linux-riscv, ubuntu/linux-realtime, ubuntu/linux-hwe-edge, ubuntu/linux-azure, ubuntu/linux-gcp, ubuntu/linux-azure-fde, ubuntu/linux-gke, and ubuntu/linux-aws-5.0.

2

What part of the kernel is involved?

The issue is in the Linux kernel ACPI support for RISC-V, specifically the riscv_acpi_add_prt_dep() loop handling.

3

What is the underlying failure condition?

Error handling can continue the loop without advancing the entry pointer to the next entry. This can cause entries to be skipped or missed.
