UBUNTU-CVE-2026-93214: Medium severity ubuntu/linux-azure vulnerability
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: usb: gadget: ftcm: fix deadlock in usbgmaketpg() usbgmaketpg() held deplock while calling configfsdependitemunlocked(), which acquires the configfs root inode lock when operating across subsystems. This creates a circular lock dependency with configfsrmdir(): deplock -> configfs root inode lock -> sumutex -> deplock In usbgmaketpg(), deplock only serialized the read of opts->ready, which is a monotonic flag that transitions from false to true exactly once (in tcmsetname()) and never reverts. Remove deplock from usbgmaketpg() entirely and use READONCE/WRITEONCE to access opts->ready locklessly instead.

Frequently Asked Questions
Which Ubuntu kernel package families are listed as affected?
The listed packages are ubuntu/linux, ubuntu/linux-azure, ubuntu/linux-aws-fips, ubuntu/linux-azure-fips, ubuntu/linux-fips, ubuntu/linux-gcp-fips, ubuntu/linux-gcp, and ubuntu/linux-oracle.
What activity triggers the deadlock condition?
The condition involves concurrent configfs operations across subsystems: usbg_make_tpg() holding dep_lock while configfs_depend_item_unlocked() acquires the configfs root inode lock, creating a circular dependency with configfs_rmdir(). The issue is in the USB gadget f_tcm path.
