UBUNTU-CVE-2026-93280: High severity ubuntu/linux-azure vulnerability
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: greybus: audio: bound the topology section sizes against the fetched size gbaudiogbgettopology() fetches a topology blob of a module-supplied size, and gbaudiotplgparsedata() then walks it by adding the module-supplied sizedais, sizecontrols and sizewidgets fields to form the control, widget and route section offsets. Those le32 sizes are never checked against the fetched blob, so a module reporting a small topology size but large section sizes makes the offsets point past the allocation, and parsing reads out of bounds. Reject a topology whose section sizes do not fit within the fetched size before it is parsed.

Before parsing a Greybus audio topology, validate that the module-supplied size_dais, size_controls, and size_widgets section sizes and their resulting offsets fit within the fetched topology blob size; reject the topology if any section exceeds the fetched allocation.

Frequently Asked Questions
What access does an attacker need to exploit this issue?
The attack vector is adjacent network access, and no privileges or user interaction are required. Exploitation depends on a Greybus audio module supplying a malicious topology blob.
Which systems are realistically exposed?
Systems running one of the listed Ubuntu kernel packages are affected if they use Greybus audio and can communicate with a malicious or compromised module. The provided data does not establish that systems without Greybus audio use are exposed.
What happens when the flaw is exploited?
A module can report topology section sizes that exceed the fetched topology blob, causing the parser to read beyond the allocated buffer. The severity vector indicates potential high impact to confidentiality, integrity, and availability.
What mitigation is available if an updated kernel cannot be deployed immediately?
Avoid connecting or communicating with untrusted Greybus audio modules. The vulnerability is triggered by module-supplied topology size fields during topology parsing.
