UBUNTU-CVE-2026-97550: Medium severity ubuntu/linux-hwe-edge vulnerability
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: xfs: fix unit conversions in perbinval computation LOLLM noticed that we're doing the unit conversion in the perbinval computation backwards -- xfsbufinvallogspace's second parameter is supposed to be in bytes, but maxbinval is in units of fsblocks. Hence the conversion should be FSB -> B, not the other way around.

Frequently Asked Questions
Which Ubuntu kernel packages are listed as affected?
The listed packages are ubuntu/linux-riscv, ubuntu/linux-realtime, ubuntu/linux-hwe-edge, ubuntu/linux-azure, ubuntu/linux-gcp, ubuntu/linux-azure-fde, ubuntu/linux-gke, and ubuntu/linux-aws-5.0.
What component is involved in this issue?
The fix is in the Linux kernel XFS filesystem code, specifically the per_binval computation used with xfs_buf_inval_log_space.
What is the underlying defect corrected by the fix?
A value in filesystem blocks, max_binval, was converted in the wrong direction before being supplied to a parameter that expects bytes. The correction changes the conversion from filesystem blocks to bytes.
