UBUNTU-CVE-2026-97909: Medium severity ubuntu/linux-azure vulnerability
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ASoC: sti: initialize IRQ lock before requesting IRQ unireaderinit() registers the shared IRQ before initializing reader->irqlock. A pending interrupt can invoke the handler while the lock is still uninitialized. Initialize the lock before registering the IRQ so the interrupt path always sees valid lock state.

Frequently Asked Questions
Which Ubuntu kernel packages should be assessed for this issue?
Assess ubuntu/linux, ubuntu/linux-azure, ubuntu/linux-aws-fips, ubuntu/linux-azure-fips, ubuntu/linux-fips, ubuntu/linux-gcp-fips, ubuntu/linux-gcp, and ubuntu/linux-oracle.
What timing condition causes the unsafe state?
The condition exists when uni_reader_init() registers a shared IRQ before reader->irq_lock is initialized. A pending interrupt may invoke the handler during that interval, causing it to use uninitialized lock state.
