UBUNTU-CVE-2026-98437: Low severity ubuntu/linux-hwe-edge vulnerability

Published Oct 18, 2026
·
Updated

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: media: qcom: iris: fix runtime PM reference leaks Use pmruntimeresumeandget() in irisenablepowerdomains() to avoid leaking a runtime PM usage count on failure. Also ensure pmruntimeputsync() is always called in irisdisablepowerdomains(), even when irisoppsetrate() fails, so runtime PM references remain balanced.

Frequently Asked Questions

1

Which Ubuntu kernel packages are identified as affected?

The listed packages are ubuntu/linux-riscv, ubuntu/linux-realtime, ubuntu/linux-hwe-edge, ubuntu/linux-azure, ubuntu/linux-gcp, ubuntu/linux-azure-fde, ubuntu/linux-gke, and ubuntu/linux-aws-5.0.

2

What condition triggers the runtime PM reference leak?

A runtime PM usage count can leak when power-domain enablement fails. The fix uses pm_runtime_resume_and_get() in iris_enable_power_domains() to handle that failure path.

3

Is there also a failure-path issue when disabling power domains?

Yes. If iris_opp_set_rate() fails during power-domain disablement, pm_runtime_put_sync() must still be called so runtime PM references remain balanced.
