UBUNTU-CVE-2026-98513: Low severity ubuntu/linux-hwe-edge vulnerability

Published Oct 18, 2026
·
Updated

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: drm/nouveau: Fix runtime PM leak in nouveauconnectordetect() If nvifoutpedidget() fails, nouveauconnectordetect() returns early without dropping the runtime PM reference taken at the start of the function, keeping the device powered on until the next successful detect. Balance the reference on the error path like the other exit paths do.

Remediation

Recommended actions to resolve this vulnerability, in priority order.

  1. Compensating control

In nouveau_connector_detect(), balance the runtime PM reference on the error path: if nvif_outp_edid_get() fails, drop the reference taken at function entry before returning.
