Remediation

Recommended actions to resolve this vulnerability, in priority order.

  1. Compensating control

Update the s390 PAI PMU handling so PMU->start() clears PERF_HES_STOPPED and PMU->stop() checks PERF_HES_STOPPED on entry, returning when it is already set to prevent back-to-back stop callbacks.

  2. Compensating control

    Prohibit ioctl(fd, PERF_EVENT_IOC_PERIOD, ...) for this event.

  3. Compensating control

Use list_for_each_entry_safe() when iterating over syswide_list in pai_have_samples().
