ZDI-CAN-12244: Phoenix Contact Automationworx XML File Parsing Stack-based Buffer Overflow Remote Code Execution Vulnerability
This vulnerability allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code on affected installations of Phoenix Contact Automationworx. User interaction is required to exploit this vulnerability in that the target must visit a malicious page or open a malicious file. The specific flaw exists within the parsing of XML files. When parsing the name attribute of a pou element, the process does not properly validate the length of user-supplied data prior to copying it to a fixed-length stack-based buffer.
