ZDI-CAN-26170: ZDI-25-511: IrfanView CADImage Plugin CGM File Parsing Out-Of-Bounds Read Remote Code Execution Vulnerability
This vulnerability allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code on affected installations of IrfanView CADImage Plugin. User interaction is required to exploit this vulnerability in that the target must visit a malicious page or open a malicious file. The specific flaw exists within the parsing of CGM files. The issue results from the lack of proper validation of user-supplied data, which can result in a read past the end of an allocated buffer. An attacker can leverage this vulnerability to execute code in the context of the current process.

Frequently Asked Questions
What does an attacker need to do to exploit this issue?
The attacker must persuade a target to visit a malicious page or open a malicious CGM file. No privileges are required before exploitation, but user interaction is required.
What level of access could successful exploitation provide?
Successful exploitation can allow arbitrary code execution in the context of the current process. The listed impact includes high confidentiality, integrity, and availability effects.
Which component processes the malicious content?
The issue is in the IrfanView CADImage Plugin's parsing of CGM files. It is caused by insufficient validation of user-supplied data, leading to an out-of-bounds read.
