ZDI-CAN-29069: (0Day) (Pwn2Own) Alpine iLX-F511 prh_sdp_service_search_decode Stack-based Buffer Overflow Remote Code Execution Vulnerability
This vulnerability allows network-adjacent attackers to execute arbitrary code on affected installations of Alpine iLX-F511 devices. An attacker must first obtain the ability to pair a malicious Bluetooth device with the target system in order to exploit this vulnerability. The specific flaw exists within the prhsdpservicesearchdecode function. The issue results from the lack of proper validation of the length of user-supplied data prior to copying it to a stack-based buffer. An attacker can leverage this vulnerability to execute code in the context of root.

Frequently Asked Questions
What access does an attacker need to exploit this issue?
An attacker must be network-adjacent and able to pair a malicious Bluetooth device with the target system. No prior privileges are required, but user interaction is required according to the supplied CVSS vector.
What is the impact if exploitation succeeds?
Successful exploitation can execute arbitrary code in the context of root, affecting confidentiality, integrity, and availability.
Which component is affected?
The flaw is in the prh_sdp_service_search_decode function, where attacker-controlled data length is not properly validated before copying data into a stack-based buffer.
