cisco-sa-roomos-bof-vTMANZgu: Cisco RoomOS Stack Overflow Vulnerability
A vulnerability in the USB driver of Cisco RoomOS could allow an unauthenticated, local attacker with physical access to the USB port on an affected device to execute arbitrary code with root privileges. This vulnerability is due to insufficient boundary checks for specific data that is provided through the USB driver. An attacker could exploit this vulnerability by connecting a malicious USB device to an affected device. A successful exploit could allow the attacker to cause a buffer overflow condition on the affected system and execute arbitrary code with root privileges.Cisco has released software updates that address this vulnerability. There are no workarounds that address this vulnerability. This advisory is available at the following link:https://sec.cloudapps.cisco.com/security/center/content/CiscoSecurityAdvisory/cisco-sa-roomos-bof-vTMANZgu

Frequently Asked Questions
Who is exposed to exploitation?
Affected Cisco RoomOS devices are exposed when an attacker can physically access their USB port. Exploitation is local and does not require authentication.
What does an attacker need to exploit the issue?
The attacker needs physical access to an affected device and must connect a malicious USB device. The malicious device provides specific data through the USB driver to trigger the buffer overflow.
What is the impact of successful exploitation?
A successful exploit can allow arbitrary code execution with root privileges on the affected device.
What can be done if updates cannot be installed immediately?
No workaround is available. Restricting physical access to affected devices and their USB ports can reduce the opportunity for exploitation until Cisco software updates are applied.
