Apache Tomcat contains a path equivalence vulnerability that allows a remote attacker to execute code, disclose information, or inject malicious content via a partial PUT request. This vulnerability can be chained with CVE‑2026‑34486.
Dear Linux Developers,
We're reaching out to you as part of the disclosure process of our research.
In our research, which we will present at IEEE Security & Privacy in May 2024, we found that attackers can not only create TCP-spoofed connections (which was already known), but can also reliably transmit IP-spoofed data over such connections. This has security implications for applications that rely on TCP endpoint IP addresses, such as firewalling or host-based authentication (e.g., SMTP/SPF, of DBs).
We basically discovered two TCP spoofing primitives. First, attackers can bruteforce the server-chosen send window by acknowledging data that was never sent (what we call "ghost ACKs"; see Figure 3 in the paper). Second, we show that there are side channels that allow the attacker to leak the otherwise-secret server-chosen initial sequence number (ISN). One of these side channels leverages TCP SYN cookies.
We believe that the TCP/IP stack can take countermeasures to prevent such attacks, or at least make them harder. For example, we think that TCP endpoints should ignore ghost ACKs, and have some ideas to randomize the TCP backlog queue to prevent the SYN cookie side channel.
At the same time, we have disclosed our findings to the IETF folks and hope that they have helpful feedback for us.
Apache. This is a vulnerability in open source code and Apple Software among the affected projects. The CVE-ID was assigned by a third party. Learn more about the issue and CVE-ID at cve.org.
A remote attacker who has successfully installed or hijacked an exposed printer (via UPD or mDNS) and was able to return a malicious IPP attribute, the attacker may be able to exploit FoomaticRIPCommandLine to execute arbitrary commands. Due to a lack of sanitization in cfGetPrinterAttributes API and ppdCreatePPDFromIPP2, a vulnerable CUPS system will execute the foomatic-rip filter binary when a print job is sent to the printer.
Unchecked Error Condition vulnerability in Apache Tomcat. If Tomcat is configured to use a custom Jakarta Authentication (formerly JASPIC) ServerAuthContext component which may throw an exception during the authentication process without explicitly setting an HTTP status to indicate failure, the authentication may not fail, allowing the user to bypass the authentication process. There are no known Jakarta Authentication components that behave in this way.
This issue affects Apache Tomcat: from 11.0.0-M1 through 11.0.0-M26, from 10.1.0-M1 through 10.1.30, from 9.0.0-M1 through 9.0.95.
The following versions were EOL at the time the CVE was created but are known to be affected: 8.5.0 though 8.5.100. Other EOL versions may also be affected.
Users are recommended to upgrade to version 11.0.0, 10.1.31 or 9.0.96, which fix the issue.
Accessibility. A logging issue was addressed with improved data redaction.
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
tls: separate no-async decryption request handling from async
If we're not doing async, the handling is much simpler. There's no reference counting, we just need to wait for the completion to wake us up and return its result.
We should preferably also use a separate cryptowait. I'm not seeing a UAF as I did in the past, I think aec7961916f3 ("tls: fix race between async notify and socket close") took care of it.
This will make the next fix easier.

Apache HTTP Server contains an improper escaping of output vulnerability in modrewrite that allows an attacker to map URLs to filesystem locations that are permitted to be served by the server but are not intentionally/directly reachable by any URL, resulting in code execution or source code disclosure.
A Heap Use After Free (UAF) vulnerability was discovered in the Schematron in the libxml2. The issue arises in the xmlSchematronGetNode function when processing XPath expressions in Schematron schema elements <sch:name path="..."/>, where a pointer to freed memory is returned and then accessed, leading to undefined behavior and potential crashes.
A vulnerability was found in libxml2. Processing certain sch:name elements from the input XML file can trigger a memory corruption issue. This flaw allows an attacker to craft a malicious XML input file that can lead libxml to crash, resulting in a denial of service or other possible undefined behavior due to sensitive data being corrupted in memory.
A denial-of-service (DoS) attack was found in the mlx5 driver in the Linux kernel. A KVM guest VM using virtio-net can crash the host by sending a short packet (i.e. size < ETHHLEN). The packet may traverse through vhost-net, macvtap and vlan without any validation/drop. When this packet is presented to mlx5 driver on the host side, the kernel panic happens, since mlx5core assumes the frame size is always >= ETHHLEN.
This vulnerability affects both drivers/net/tun.c and drivers/net/tap.c. CVE-2024-41090 has been assigned to the TAP side of the issue.

An underflow read was found in pngcheckkeyword in pngwutil.c in libpng-1.2.54:
If the data of "key" is only ' ' (0x20), it will read a byte before the buffer in line 1288.
This issue impacts upstream versions 1.2.55, 1.0.65, 1.4.18, and 1.5.25 of libpng.
An attacker could possibly use this flaw to cause an out-of-bounds read by tricking an unsuspecting user into processing a specially crafted PNG image.

An issue was discovered in Python before 3.8.18, 3.9.x before 3.9.18, 3.10.x before 3.10.13, and 3.11.x before 3.11.5. It primarily affects servers (such as HTTP servers) that use TLS client authentication. If a TLS server-side socket is created, receives data into the socket buffer, and then is closed quickly, there is a brief window where the SSLSocket instance will detect the socket as "not connected" and won't initiate a handshake, but buffered data will still be readable from the socket buffer. This data will not be authenticated if the server-side TLS peer is expecting client certificate authentication, and is indistinguishable from valid TLS stream data. Data is limited in size to the amount that will fit in the buffer. (The TLS connection cannot directly be used for data exfiltration because the vulnerable code path requires that the connection be closed on initialization of the SSLSocket.)

A use-after-free flaw was found in route4change in the net/sched/clsroute.c filter implementation in the Linux kernel. This flaw allows a local user to crash the system and possibly lead to a local privilege escalation problem.
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
afunix: Fix garbage collector racing against connect()
Garbage collector does not take into account the risk of embryo getting enqueued during the garbage collection. If such embryo has a peer that carries SCMRIGHTS, two consecutive passes of scanchildren() may see a different set of children. Leading to an incorrectly elevated inflight count, and then a dangling pointer within the gcinflightlist.
sockets are AFUNIX/SOCKSTREAM S is an unconnected socket L is a listening in-flight socket bound to addr, not in fdtable V's fd will be passed via sendmsg(), gets inflight count bumped
connect(S, addr) sendmsg(S, [V]); close(V) unixgc() ---------------- ------------------------- -----------
NS = unixcreate1() skb1 = sockwmalloc(NS) L = unixfindother(addr) unixstatelock(L) unixpeer(S) = NS // V count=1 inflight=0
NS = unixpeer(S) skb2 = sockalloc() skbqueuetail(NS, skb2[V])
// V became in-flight // V count=2 inflight=1
close(V)
// V count=1 inflight=1 // GC candidate condition met
for u in gcinflightlist: if (totalrefs == inflightrefs) add u to gccandidates
// gccandidates={L, V}
for u in gccandidates: scanchildren(u, decinflight)
// embryo (skb1) was not // reachable from L yet, so V's // inflight remains unchanged skbqueuetail(L, skb1) unixstateunlock(L) for u in gccandidates: if (u.inflight) scanchildren(u, incinflightmovetail)
// V count=1 inflight=2 (!)
If there is a GC-candidate listening socket, lock/unlock its state. This makes GC wait until the end of any ongoing connect() to that socket. After flipping the lock, a possibly SCM-laden embryo is already enqueued. And if there is another embryo coming, it can not possibly carry SCMRIGHTS. At this point, unixinflight() can not happen because unixgclock is already taken. Inflight graph remains unaffected.
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
tty: ngsm: require CAPNETADMIN to attach NGSM0710 ldisc
Any unprivileged user can attach NGSM0710 ldisc, but it requires CAPNETADMIN to create a GSM network anyway.
Require initial namespace CAPNETADMIN to do that.
Android contains an unspecified vulnerability in the kernel that allows for remote code execution. This vulnerability resides in Linux Kernel and could impact other products, including but not limited to Android OS.
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
perf/aux: Fix AUX buffer serialization
Ole reported that event->mmapmutex is strictly insufficient to serialize the AUX buffer, add a per RB mutex to fully serialize it.
Note that in the lock order comment the perfevent::mmapmutex order was already wrong, that is, it nesting under mmaplock is not new with this patch.

A flaw in the Linux Kernel found. Use after free in the net/sched classifiers (clsfw, clsu32 and clsroute) can happen because of mainline/net/sched/clsfw.c incorrect handling of the existing filter in .change method that leads to an extra unbindtcf call for the associated class and that allows that class to be removed while it's still used. These bugs can be used for a local privilege escalation.
