Integer Underflow
AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H

RIOT is an open-source microcontroller operating system designed for Internet of Things devices and other embedded systems. Prior to 2026.07, parsereply() in sys/net/applicationlayer/dhcpv6/client.c omits minimum-length validation before passing IAPD and IANA option bodies to sub-option parsers. A malicious or compromised DHCPv6 server can send a REPLY with an option length smaller than the required structure while MODULEDHCPV6CLIENTIAPD is enabled, causing parseiapdoption to read past the option body, sizet underflow, and unbounded out-of-bounds heap reads that can crash the device and may expose or corrupt memory. This issue is fixed in version 2026.07.

RIOT is an open-source microcontroller operating system designed for Internet of Things devices and other embedded systems. Prior to 2026.04, the ATWINC15x0 driver's atwinc15x0stasetcurrentssid function uses strcpy to copy an SSID without checking the destination size. When MODULEATWINC15X0DYNAMICCONNECT is enabled, a nearby attacker can advertise a malformed or oversized SSID that is processed during Wi-Fi scanning, causing memory corruption and potentially a hard fault, denial of service, or code execution. This issue is fixed in version 2026.04.

Integer Overflow
AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:H/A:H

RIOT is an open-source microcontroller operating system designed for Internet of Things devices and other embedded systems. Prior to 2026.07, nanocoap accepts oversized CoAP Block2 option values without enforcing the 20-bit maximum block number, allowing block offset multiplication to overflow on 32-bit targets. The affected master baseline is commit aeeae69e; the verified fix is later on master and remains unreleased. The oversized value passes from coapgetblockopt() to coapblockslicerinit(). A remote CoAP client can send a malformed Block2 option that produces an invalid slice range and can cause out-of-bounds memory access, denial of service, or memory corruption. This vulnerability is fixed in 2026.07.

RIOT is an open-source microcontroller operating system designed for Internet of Things devices and other embedded systems. From version 2023.07 through version 2026.07, nanocoapfileserver callers in sys/net/applicationlayer/nanocoap/fileserver.c ignore a failure returned by respinit() when coapbuildreply() cannot fit a response header into the response buffer. A remote client can send a CoAP request with a sufficiently large extended token when nanocoaptokenext is enabled, causing response initialization to fail while getfile() or getdirectory() continues with stale response state. The path then reaches calcszx2() and its pdu->payloadlen > reserve assertion, terminating the affected service or device task. No fixed release is available as of this review.

RIOT is an open-source microcontroller operating system designed for Internet of Things devices and other embedded systems. In 2026.07 and earlier, the nanoCoAP client function nanocoapsockgetslice() in sys/net/applicationlayer/nanocoap/sock.c accepts a Block2 response when blockcb() sees the expected block number without also verifying that the server-controlled szx and derived offset match the requested block geometry. A malicious CoAP server can return the expected block number with a larger block size, causing the derived offset to exceed the client slice offset and making ctx->offset - offset underflow in 2bufslice(). The resulting buffer-relative calculation can read before the payload buffer and crash the client, causing denial of service and potentially exposing adjacent memory. No fixed release is available as of this review.

RIOT is an open-source microcontroller operating system, designed to match the requirements of Internet of Things (IoT) devices and other embedded devices. In version 2025.10 and prior, multiple out-of-bounds read allow any unauthenticated user, with ability to send or manipulate input packets, to read adjacent memory locations, or crash a vulnerable device running the 6LoWPAN stack. The received packet is cast into a sixlowpansfrrfragt struct and dereferenced without validating the packet is large enough to contain the struct object. At time of publication, no known patch exists.
