Remediation

Recommended actions to resolve this vulnerability, in priority order.

  1. Configuration

Restrict the ACLs on the AEDebug registry key so local non-privileged users cannot modify it; allow only trusted/privileged accounts to change the debugger value.

Microsoft Windows NT (AEDebug registry key) permissions = prevent modification by local non-privileged users
  2. Operational

Audit the AEDebug registry key for any unauthorized or unexpected 'debugger' values. If an untrusted or malicious debugger is configured, remove or correct the entry and investigate the host for compromise before restoring a trusted debugger setting.
