CVE-2018-4391 refers to an inconsistent user interface issue in Messages that has been fixed in several Apple software updates.
The issue can be exploited by processing a maliciously crafted text message, which may lead to UI spoofing.
CVE-2018-4391 affects macOS High Sierra versions up to 10.13.1, iOS versions up to 11.3 and 12.1, watchOS versions up to 4.3, as well as iPhone OS versions up to 12.1.
To fix the issue, update to macOS High Sierra 10.13.1, apply Security Update 2017-001 for Sierra, apply Security Update 2017-004 for El Capitan, upgrade to watchOS 4.3, or update iOS to version 12.1.
CVE-2018-4391 has a severity rating of 5.5, which is considered medium.
