CVE-2026-0322: PAN-OS: Authenticated Remote Code Execution (RCE) in the Management Interface (Severity: HIGH)
A remote code execution (RCE) vulnerability in the management interface of Palo Alto Networks PAN-OS® software enables an authenticated attacker with network access to execute arbitrary code with root privileges on the firewall.
The security risk posed by this issue is minimized by restricting access to the management interface to only trusted internal IP addresses according to our recommended best practice deployment guidelines https://live.paloaltonetworks.com/t5/community-blogs/tips-amp-tricks-how-to-secure-the-management-access-of-your-palo/ba-p/464431 .
This issue is applicable to PAN-OS software on PA-Series and VM-Series firewalls and on Panorama (virtual and M-Series).
Cloud NGFW and Prisma® Access are not impacted by this vulnerability.

Frequently Asked Questions
Which deployments are affected, and which are not?
The issue applies to PAN-OS on PA-Series and VM-Series firewalls and to Panorama virtual and M-Series systems. Cloud NGFW and Prisma Access are not impacted.
What access does an attacker need to exploit this issue?
An attacker needs network access to the management interface and authenticated access. Successful exploitation allows arbitrary code execution with root privileges on the firewall.
Are systems with publicly reachable management interfaces at greater risk?
Yes. The stated risk reduction is to restrict management-interface access to trusted internal IP addresses; systems that expose this interface to broader networks have a larger potential attacker population.
What can be done if patching cannot be completed immediately?
Restrict management-interface access to trusted internal IP addresses in line with the recommended deployment guidance. This reduces exposure but does not remove the vulnerability.
Is this vulnerability known to be exploited?
Yes. It is flagged as exploited and was added to the KEV list on 2026-10-14.
