An Improper link resolution before file access ('link following') vulnerability in the File Shredder module as used in Bitdefender Total Security and Internet Security on Windows allows a less-privileged local user to elevate rights by leveraging a race conditions via Symbolic Links.
This issue affects Total Security: before 27.0.58.315; Internet Security: before 27.0.58.315.
BitDefender Total Security 2018 allows local users to gain privileges or cause a denial of service by impersonating all the pipes through a use of an "insecurely created named pipe". Ensures full access to Everyone users group.
Code injection vulnerability in Bitdefender Total Security 12.0 (and earlier), Internet Security 12.0 (and earlier), and Antivirus Plus 12.0 (and earlier) allows a local attacker to bypass a self-protection mechanism, inject arbitrary code, and take full control of any Bitdefender process via a "DoubleAgent" attack. One perspective on this issue is that (1) these products do not use the Protected Processes feature, and therefore an attacker can enter an arbitrary Application Verifier Provider DLL under Image File Execution Options in the registry; (2) the self-protection mechanism is intended to block all local processes (regardless of privileges) from modifying Image File Execution Options for these products; and (3) this mechanism can be bypassed by an attacker who temporarily renames Image File Execution Options during the attack.
A local privilege escalation vulnerability in Bitdefender Total Security versions prior to 27.0.47.241 allows low-privileged attackers to elevate privileges. The issue arises from bdservicehost.exe deleting files from a user-writable directory (C:\ProgramData\Atc\Feedback) without proper symbolic link validation, enabling arbitrary file deletion. This issue is chained with a file copy operation during network events and a filter driver bypass via DLL injection to achieve arbitrary file copy and code execution as elevated user.
Improper Input Validation vulnerability in the Safepay browser component of Bitdefender Total Security 2020 allows an external, specially crafted web page to run remote commands inside the Safepay Utility process. This issue affects Bitdefender Total Security 2020 versions prior to 24.0.20.116.
A NULL Pointer Dereference vulnerability in the messagingipc.dll component as used in Bitdefender Total Security, Internet Security, Antivirus Plus, Endpoint Security Tools, VPN Standalone allows an attacker to arbitrarily crash product processes and generate crashdump files. This issue affects: Bitdefender Total Security versions prior to 26.0.3.29. Bitdefender Internet Security versions prior to 26.0.3.29. Bitdefender Antivirus Plus versions prior to 26.0.3.29. Bitdefender Endpoint Security Tools versions prior to 7.2.2.92. Bitdefender VPN Standalone versions prior to 25.5.0.48.
DISPUTED Race condition in BitDefender Total Security 2010 13.0.20.347 on Windows XP allows local users to bypass kernel-mode hook handlers, and execute dangerous code that would otherwise be blocked by a handler but not blocked by signature-based malware detection, via certain user-space memory changes during hook-handler execution, aka an argument-switch attack or a KHOBE attack. NOTE: this issue is disputed by some third parties because it is a flaw in a protection mechanism for situations where a crafted program has already begun to execute.
Incorrect Permission Assignment for Critical Resource vulnerability in the crash handling component BDReinit.exe as used in Bitdefender Total Security, Internet Security, Antivirus Plus, Endpoint Security Tools for Windows allows a remote attacker to escalate local privileges to SYSTEM. This issue affects: Bitdefender Total Security versions prior to 26.0.10.45. Bitdefender Internet Security versions prior to 26.0.10.45. Bitdefender Antivirus Plus versions prior to 26.0.10.45. Bitdefender Endpoint Security Tools for Windows versions prior to 7.4.3.146.
