Multiple vulnerabilities in the web-based management interface of certain Cisco IP Phones could allow an unauthenticated, remote attacker to execute arbitrary code or cause a denial of service (DoS) condition. For more information about these vulnerabilities, see the Details section of this advisory.
A vulnerability in Cisco Unified IP Phones could allow an unauthenticated, remote attacker to impersonate another user's phone if the Cisco Unified Communications Manager (CUCM) is in secure mode. This vulnerability is due to improper key generation during the manufacturing process that could result in duplicated manufactured keys installed on multiple devices. An attacker could exploit this vulnerability by performing a machine-in-the-middle attack on the secure communication between the phone and the CUCM. A successful exploit could allow the attacker to impersonate another user's phone. This vulnerability cannot be addressed with software updates. There is a workaround that addresses this vulnerability. A vulnerability in the information storage architecture of several Cisco IP Phone models could allow an unauthenticated, physical attacker to obtain confidential information from an affected device. This vulnerability is due to unencrypted storage of confidential information on an affected device. An attacker could exploit this vulnerability by physically extracting and accessing one of the flash memory chips. A successful exploit could allow the attacker to obtain confidential information from the device, which could be used for subsequent attacks.
A vulnerability in the Web Access feature of Cisco IP Phones Series 7800 and Series 8800 could allow an unauthenticated, remote attacker to view sensitive information on an affected device. The vulnerability is due to improper access controls on the web-based management interface of an affected device. An attacker could exploit this vulnerability by sending malicious requests to the device, which could allow the attacker to bypass access restrictions. A successful attack could allow the attacker to view sensitive information, including device call logs that contain names, usernames, and phone numbers of users of the device.
A vulnerability in the Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) ingress packet processing of Cisco Unified IP Phone software could allow an unauthenticated, remote attacker to cause a denial of service (DoS) condition. The vulnerability is due to a lack of flow-control mechanisms in the software. An attacker could exploit this vulnerability by sending high volumes of SIP INVITE traffic to the targeted device. Successful exploitation could allow the attacker to cause a disruption of services on the targeted IP phone. The kernel in Cisco Native Unix (CNU) on Cisco Unified IP Phone 7900 series devices (aka TNP phones) with software before 9.3.1-ES10 does not properly validate unspecified system calls, which allows attackers to execute arbitrary code or cause a denial of service (memory overwrite) via a crafted binary.
Cisco Unified IP Phones 9900 series devices with firmware 9.1 and 9.2 do not properly handle downloads of configuration information to an RT phone, which allows local users to gain privileges via unspecified injected data, aka Bug ID CSCts32237.
Cisco Unified IP Phones 7900 devices (aka TNP phones) with software before 9.2.1 allow local users to gain privileges via unspecified vectors, aka Bug ID CSCtn65815.
The su utility on Cisco Unified IP Phones 7900 devices (aka TNP phones) with software before 9.0.3 allows local users to gain privileges via unspecified vectors, aka Bug ID CSCtf07426.
Cisco Unified IP Phones 7900 devices (aka TNP phones) with software before 9.2.1 do not properly verify signatures for software images, which allows local users to gain privileges via a crafted image, aka Bug ID CSCtn65962.
The HTTP server in Cisco Unified IP Phone 7935 and 7936 running SCCP firmware allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (reboot) via a crafted HTTP request.
Buffer overflow in Cisco Unified IP Phone 7940, 7940G, 7960, and 7960G running SCCP and SIP firmware might allow remote attackers to execute arbitrary code via a crafted DNS response.
Buffer overflow in Cisco Unified IP Phone 7940, 7940G, 7960, and 7960G running SIP firmware might allow remote attackers to execute arbitrary code via a SIP message with crafted MIME data.
Buffer overflow in the telnet server in Cisco Unified IP Phone 7906G, 7911G, 7941G, 7961G, 7970G, and 7971G running SCCP firmware might allow remote authenticated users to execute arbitrary code via a crafted command.
Cisco Unified IP Phone 7940, 7940G, 7960, and 7960G running SCCP firmware allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (reboot) via a long ICMP echo request (ping) packet.
Heap-based buffer overflow in Cisco Unified IP Phone 7940, 7940G, 7960, and 7960G running SIP firmware might allow remote SIP servers to execute arbitrary code via a crafted challenge/response message.
