This vulnerability allows local attackers to escalate privileges on affected installations of Docker Desktop. An attacker must first obtain the ability to execute low-privileged code on the target system in order to exploit this vulnerability. The specific flaw exists within the handling of the plugins directory path. The product executes a program from an unsecured location. An attacker can leverage this vulnerability to escalate privileges and execute arbitrary code in the context of the target user.
Asian Arts Talents Foundation (AATF) Website v5.1.x and Docker version 2024.12.8.1 are vulnerable to Cross Site Scripting (XSS). The vulnerability exists in the /ip.php endpoint, which processes and displays the X-Forwarded-For HTTP header without proper sanitization or output encoding. This allows an attacker to inject malicious JavaScript code that will execute in visitor browsers.
A flaw in the bind-propagation option of the Dockerfile RUN --mount instruction allows arbitrary parameters to be passed to the underlying mount command. This issue enables an attacker to mount arbitrary host files into a container during the build process and potentially modify them. SELinux does not provide sufficient defense, as the attacker can specify :z or :Z to relabel the host directory for container access. The vulnerability requires an attacker to have build privileges on the system and can lead to unauthorized access and modification of host files, posing significant security risks.
Summary: We received a report of an attack vector on containers which share an IPC namespace (definitely Podman, but likely also applicable to Kubernetes, Docker, and other container runtimes). At least two containers are configured with a shared IPC namespace and a cgroup limiting memory. One of those containers is malicious, and contains a binary which creates a large number of IPC resources in /dev/shm, and continues doing so until it is OOM killed. The malicious container is now dead, its cgroup removed, but the IPC resources it created are not; they are tied to the IPC namespace that will not be removed until all containers using it are stopped, and one non-malicious container is holding the namespace open. The malicious container is restarted (either automatically or by attacker control), repeating the process and increasing the amount of memory consumed. With a container configured to restart always (e.g. podman run --restart=always) this results in a memory-based denial of service of the system.
Podman Version: Version 5.0.0-dev and before
OS Command Injection vulnerability in Hitachi RAID Manager Storage Replication Adapter allows remote authenticated users to execute arbitrary OS commands. This issue affects: Hitachi RAID Manager Storage Replication Adapter 02.01.04 versions prior to 02.03.02 on Windows; 02.05.00 versions prior to 02.05.01 on Windows and Docker.
Information Exposure Through an Error Message vulnerability in Hitachi RAID Manager Storage Replication Adapter allows remote authenticated users to gain sensitive information. This issue affects: Hitachi RAID Manager Storage Replication Adapter 02.01.04 versions prior to 02.03.02 on Windows; 02.05.00 versions prior to 02.05.01 on Windows and Docker.
Docker Desktop before 4.5.1 on Windows allows attackers to move arbitrary files. NOTE: this issue exists because of an incomplete fix for CVE-2022-23774.
IBM iConnect Access (SaMD) contains hard-coded credentials, such as a password or cryptographic key, which it uses for its own inbound authentication, outbound communication to external components, or encryption of internal data.
IBM Security Access Manager Docker could allow a remote attacker to obtain sensitive information when a detailed technical error message is returned in the browser. This information could be used in further attacks against the system.
IBM Security Access Manager Docker is vulnerable to cross-site scripting. This vulnerability allows users to embed arbitrary JavaScript code in the Web UI thus altering the intended functionality potentially leading to credentials disclosure within a trusted session.
IBM Security Access Manager Docker could allow a remote attacker to obtain sensitive information when a detailed technical error message is returned in the browser. This information could be used in further attacks against the system.
IBM Security Access Manager Docker could allow a remote priviled user to upload arbitrary files with a dangerous file type that could be excuted by an user.
IBM Security Access Manager Docker reveals version information in HTTP requets that could be used in further attacks against the system.
IBM Security Access Manager Docker could allow a remote attacker to conduct phishing attacks, using an open redirect attack. By persuading a victim to visit a specially crafted Web site, a remote attacker could exploit this vulnerability to spoof the URL displayed to redirect a user to a malicious Web site that would appear to be trusted. This could allow the attacker to obtain highly sensitive information or conduct further attacks against the victim.
IBM Security Access Manager Docker uses weaker than expected cryptographic algorithms that could allow an attacker to decrypt highly sensitive information.
IBM Security Access Manager Appliance could allow a user to impersonate another user on the system.
IBM Security Access Manager Docker stores user credentials in plain clear text which can be read by a local user.
IBM Security Access Manager Docker could allow a remote authenticated attacker to execute arbitrary commands on the system by sending a specially crafted request.
IBM Security Access Manager Docker could allow a remote attacker to traverse directories on the system. An attacker could send a specially-crafted URL request containing "dot dot" sequences (/../) to view arbitrary files on the system.
IBM Security Access Manager Docker could allow an authenticated user to bypass input due to improper input validation.
IBM Security Access Manager Docker could reveal highly sensitive information to a local privileged user.
Impact
When using --userns-remap, if the root user in the remapped namespace has access to the host filesystem they can modify files under /var/lib/docker/<remapping> that cause writing files with extended privileges.
Patches
Versions 20.10.3 and 19.03.15 contain patches that prevent privilege escalation from remapped user.

Docker Desktop Community before 2.5.0.0 on macOS mishandles certificate checking, leading to local privilege escalation.
util/binfmtmisc/check.go in Builder in Docker Engine before 19.03.9 calls os.OpenFile with a potentially unsafe qemu-check temporary pathname, constructed with an empty first argument in an ioutil.TempDir call.
The docker packages version docker-1.13.1-108.git4ef4b30.el7 as released for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7 Extras via RHBA-2020:0053 (https://access.redhat.com/errata/RHBA-2020:0053) included an incorrect version of runc that was missing multiple bug and security fixes. One of the fixes regressed in that update was the fix for CVE-2016-9962, that was previously corrected in the docker packages in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7 Extras via RHSA-2017:0116 (https://access.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2017:0116). The CVE-2020-14300 was assigned to this security regression and it is specific to the docker packages produced by Red Hat. The original issue - CVE-2016-9962 - could possibly allow a process inside container to compromise a process entering container namespace and execute arbitrary code outside of the container. This could lead to compromise of the container host or other containers running on the same container host. This issue only affects a single version of Docker, 1.13.1-108.git4ef4b30, shipped in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7. Both earlier and later versions are not affected.
The version of docker as released for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7 Extras via RHBA-2020:0053 advisory included an incorrect version of runc missing the fix for CVE-2019-5736, which was previously fixed via RHSA-2019:0304. This issue could allow a malicious or compromised container to compromise the container host and other containers running on the same host. This issue only affects docker version 1.13.1-108.git4ef4b30.el7, shipped in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7 Extras. Both earlier and later versions are not affected.
A vulnerability exists in Docker before 1.2 via container names, which may collide with and override container IDs.
An issue was found in Docker before 1.6.0. Some programs and scripts in Docker are downloaded via HTTP and then executed or used in unsafe ways.
Docker Engine before 1.8.3 and CS Docker Engine before 1.6.2-CS7 does not properly validate and extract the manifest object from its JSON representation during a pull, which allows attackers to inject new attributes in a JSON object and bypass pull-by-digest validation.
