F5 BIG-IP contains a missing authentication in critical function vulnerability which can allow for remote code execution, creation or deletion of files, or disabling services.
In BIG-IP versions 15.0.0-15.1.0.3, 14.1.0-14.1.2.5, 13.1.0-13.1.3.3, 12.1.0-12.1.5.1, and 11.6.1-11.6.5.1, the Traffic Management User Interface (TMUI), also referred to as the Configuration utility, has a Remote Code Execution (RCE) vulnerability in undisclosed pages.
Under certain conditions, on F5 BIG-IP 13.0.0-13.1.0.5, 12.1.0-12.1.3.1, or 11.6.1 HF2-11.6.3.1, virtual servers configured with Client SSL or Server SSL profiles which make use of network hardware security module (HSM) functionality are exposed and impacted by this issue.
On F5 BIG-IP 13.1.0-13.1.0.3, 13.0.0, 12.1.0-12.1.3.1, 11.6.1-11.6.3.1, 11.5.1-11.5.5, or 11.2.1 and Enterprise Manager 3.1.1, when authenticated administrative users run commands in the Traffic Management User Interface (TMUI), also referred to as the BIG-IP Configuration utility, restrictions on allowed commands may not be enforced.
On F5 BIG-IP 12.1.0-12.1.3.1, 11.6.1-11.6.3.1, 11.5.1-11.5.5, or 11.2.1, carefully crafted URLs can be used to reflect arbitrary content into GeoIP lookup responses, potentially exposing clients to XSS.
On F5 BIG-IP 13.1.0-13.1.0.3, 13.0.0, 12.1.0-12.1.3.3, 11.6.1-11.6.3.1, 11.5.1-11.5.5, or 11.2.1, a malformed TLS handshake causes TMM to crash leading to a disruption of service. This issue is only exposed on the data plane when Proxy SSL configuration is enabled. The control plane is not impacted by this issue.
In F5 BIG-IP 13.0.0, 12.1.0-12.1.2, 11.6.1, 11.5.1-11.5.5, or 11.2.1 the Apache modules apacheauthtokenmod and modauthf5authtoken.cpp allow possible unauthenticated bruteforce on the emserverip authorization parameter to obtain which SSL client certificates used for mutual authentication between BIG-IQ or Enterprise Manager (EM) and managed BIG-IP devices.
On F5 BIG-IP versions 13.0.0, 12.1.0-12.1.3.1, 11.6.1-11.6.2, or 11.5.1-11.5.5, vCMP guests running on VIPRION 2100, 4200 and 4300 series blades cannot correctly decrypt ciphertext from established SSL sessions with small MTU.
In some circumstances, on F5 BIG-IP systems running 13.0.0, 12.1.0 - 12.1.3.1, any 11.6.x or 11.5.x release, or 11.2.1, TCP DNS profile allows excessive buffering due to lack of flow control.
On F5 BIG-IP systems running 13.0.0, 12.1.0 - 12.1.3.1, or 11.6.1 - 11.6.2, every Multipath TCP (MCTCP) connection established leaks a small amount of memory. Virtual server using TCP profile with Multipath TCP (MCTCP) feature enabled will be affected by this issue.
A BIG-IP virtual server configured with a Client SSL profile that has the non-default Session Tickets option enabled may leak up to 31 bytes of uninitialized memory. A remote attacker may exploit this vulnerability to obtain Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) session IDs from other sessions. It is possible that other data from uninitialized memory may be returned as well.
F5 BIG-IP 12.0.0 and 11.5.0 - 11.6.1 REST requests which timeout during user account authentication may log sensitive attributes such as passwords in plaintext to /var/log/restjavad.0.log. It may allow local users to obtain sensitive information by reading these files.
In BIG-IP 11.6.1-11.6.3.2 or 11.5.1-11.5.8, or Enterprise Manager 3.1.1, improper escaping of values in an undisclosed page of the configuration utility may result with an improper handling on the JSON response when it is injected by a malicious script via a remote cross-site scripting (XSS) attack.
In BIG-IP 14.0.0-14.0.0.2, 13.0.0-13.1.1.1, 12.1.0-12.1.3.6, 11.6.1-11.6.3.2, or 11.5.1-11.5.8, when processing fragmented ClientHello messages in a DTLS session TMM may corrupt memory eventually leading to a crash. Only systems offering DTLS connections via APM are impacted.
In BIG-IP 14.0.0-14.0.0.2, 13.0.0-13.1.1.3, 12.1.0-12.1.3.7, 11.6.1-11.6.3.2, or 11.5.1-11.5.8, when remote authentication is enabled for administrative users and all external users are granted the "guest" role, unsanitized values can be reflected to the client via the login page. This can lead to a cross-site scripting attack against unauthenticated clients.
On F5 BIG-IP 13.1.x versions prior to 13.1.5, and all versions of 12.1.x and 11.6.x, when multiple route domains are configured, undisclosed requests to big3d can cause an increase in CPU resource utilization. Note: Software versions which have reached End of Technical Support (EoTS) are not evaluated
F5 BIG-IP LTM, AAM, AFM, Analytics, APM, ASM, DNS, GTM, Link Controller, PEM, Websafe software version 12.0.0 to 12.1.2, 11.6.0 to 11.6.1 are vulnerable to a denial of service attack when the MPTCP option is enabled on a virtual server. Data plane is vulnerable when using the MPTCP option of a TCP profile. There is no control plane exposure. An attacker may be able to disrupt services by causing TMM to restart hence temporarily failing to process traffic.
In F5 BIG-IP LTM, AAM, AFM, Analytics, APM, ASM, DNS, GTM, Link Controller, PEM and WebSafe software version 13.0.0, 12.1.0 - 12.1.2 and 11.5.1 - 11.6.1, an undisclosed sequence of packets, sourced from an adjacent network may cause TMM to crash.
In F5 BIG-IP LTM, AAM, AFM, Analytics, APM, ASM, DNS, GTM, Link Controller, PEM and Websafe software version 13.0.0, 12.0.0 to 12.1.2 and 11.5.1 to 11.6.1, under limited circumstances connections handled by a Virtual Server with an associated SOCKS profile may not be properly cleaned up, potentially leading to resource starvation. Connections may be left in the connection table which then can only be removed by restarting TMM. Over time this may lead to the BIG-IP being unable to process further connections.
On BIG-IP APM 11.6.0-11.6.3, an insecure AES ECB mode is used for origuri parameter in an undisclosed /vdesk link of APM virtual server configured with an access profile, allowing a malicious user to build a redirect URI value using different blocks of cipher texts.
When the F5 BIG-IP 12.1.0-12.1.1, 11.6.0-11.6.1, 11.5.1-11.5.5, or 11.2.1 system is configured with a wildcard IPSec tunnel endpoint, it may allow a remote attacker to disrupt or impersonate the tunnels that have completed phase 1 IPSec negotiations. The attacker must possess the necessary credentials to negotiate the phase 1 of the IPSec exchange to exploit this vulnerability; in many environment this limits the attack surface to other endpoints under the same administration.
On all versions of 17.0.x, 16.1.x, 15.1.x, 14.1.x, 13.1.x, 12.1.x, and 11.6.x on F5 BIG-IP, an authenticated iControl REST user with at least guest role privileges can cause processing delays to iControl REST requests via undisclosed requests. Note: Software versions which have reached End of Technical Support (EoTS) are not evaluated
On F5 BIG-IP LTM, Advanced WAF, ASM, or APM 16.1.x versions prior to 16.1.2.2, 15.1.x versions prior to 15.1.5, 14.1.x versions prior to 14.1.4.6, and all versions of 13.1.x, 12.1.x, and 11.6.x, when a virtual server is configured with HTTP, TCP on one side (client/server), and DTLS on the other (server/client), undisclosed requests can cause the TMM process to terminate. Note: Software versions which have reached End of Technical Support (EoTS) are not evaluated
On BIG-IP version 16.0.x before 16.0.1.2, 15.1.x before 15.1.3.1, 14.1.x before 14.1.4.3, 13.1.x before 13.1.4.1, and all versions of 12.1.x and 11.6.x, when GPRS Tunneling Protocol (GTP) iRules commands or a GTP profile is configured on a virtual server, undisclosed GTP messages can cause the Traffic Management Microkernel (TMM) to terminate. Note: Software versions which have reached End of Technical Support (EoTS) are not evaluated.
On version 16.x before 16.1.0, 15.1.x before 15.1.3.1, 14.1.x before 14.1.4.3, and all versions of 13.1.x, 12.1.x and 11.6.x, when BIG-IP APM performs Online Certificate Status Protocol (OCSP) verification of a certificate that contains Authority Information Access (AIA), undisclosed requests may cause an increase in memory use. Note: Software versions which have reached End of Technical Support (EoTS) are not evaluated.
On version 15.1.x before 15.1.0.5, 14.1.x before 14.1.3.1, 13.1.x before 13.1.3.5, and all versions of 12.1.x and 11.6.x, an authenticated remote command execution vulnerability exists in the BIG-IP Configuration utility. Note: Software versions which have reached End of Technical Support (EoTS) are not evaluated.
On versions 16.0.x before 16.0.1.1, 15.1.x before 15.1.3, 14.1.x before 14.1.4, 13.1.x before 13.1.4, 12.1.x before 12.1.6, and 11.6.x before 11.6.5.3, when the BIG-IP system is buffering packet fragments for reassembly, the Traffic Management Microkernel (TMM) may consume an excessive amount of resources, eventually leading to a restart and failover event. Note: Software versions which have reached End of Technical Support (EoTS) are not evaluated.
On BIG-IP version 16.0.x before 16.0.1, 15.1.x before 15.1.1, 14.1.x before 14.1.3.1, 13.1.x before 13.1.3.5, and all 12.1.x and 11.6.x versions, undisclosed endpoints in iControl REST allow for a reflected XSS attack, which could lead to a complete compromise of BIG-IP if the victim user is granted the admin role. Note: Software versions which have reached End of Software Development (EoSD) are not evaluated.
In Edge Client version 7.2.x before 7.2.1.1, 7.1.9.x before 7.1.9.8, and 7.1.x-7.1.8.x before 7.1.8.5, an untrusted search path vulnerability in the BIG-IP APM Client Troubleshooting Utility (CTU) for Windows could allow an attacker to load a malicious DLL library from its current directory. User interaction is required to exploit this vulnerability in that the victim must run this utility on the Windows system. Note: Software versions which have reached End of Software Development (EoSD) are not evaluated.
On all versions of BIG-IP 12.1.x and 11.6.x, the original TLS protocol includes a weakness in the master secret negotiation that is mitigated by the Extended Master Secret (EMS) extension defined in RFC 7627. TLS connections that do not use EMS are vulnerable to man-in-the-middle attacks during renegotiation. Note: Software versions which have reached End of Software Development (EoSD) are not evaluated.
