In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:

ksmbd: validate payload size in ipc response

If installing malicious ksmbd-tools, ksmbd.mountd can return invalid ipc response to ksmbd kernel server. ksmbd should validate payload size of ipc response from ksmbd.mountd to avoid memory overrun or slab-out-of-bounds. This patch validate 3 ipc response that has payload.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:

Drivers: hv: vmbus: Track decrypted status in vmbusgpadl

In CoCo VMs it is possible for the untrusted host to cause setmemoryencrypted() or setmemorydecrypted() to fail such that an error is returned and the resulting memory is shared. Callers need to take care to handle these errors to avoid returning decrypted (shared) memory to the page allocator, which could lead to functional or security issues.

In order to make sure callers of vmbusestablishgpadl() and vmbusteardowngpadl() don't return decrypted/shared pages to allocators, add a field in struct vmbusgpadl to keep track of the decryption status of the buffers. This will allow the callers to know if they should free or leak the pages.

Null Pointer Dereference
CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:H/A:H

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:

net/mlx5: Properly link new fs rules into the tree

Previously, addrulefg would only add newly created rules from the handle into the tree when they had a refcount of 1. On the other hand, createflowhandle tries hard to find and reference already existing identical rules instead of creating new ones.

These two behaviors can result in a situation where createflowhandle 1) creates a new rule and references it, then 2) in a subsequent step during the same handle creation references it again, resulting in a rule with a refcount of 2 that is not linked into the tree, will have a NULL parent and root and will result in a crash when the flow group is deleted because delswhwrule, invoked on rule deletion, assumes node->parent is != NULL.

This happened in the wild, due to another bug related to incorrect handling of duplicate pktreformat ids, which lead to the code in createflowhandle incorrectly referencing a just-added rule in the same flow handle, resulting in the problem described above. Full details are at [1].

This patch changes addrulefg to add new rules without parents into the tree, properly initializing them and avoiding the crash. This makes it more consistent with how rules are added to an FTE in createflowhandle.

Null Pointer Dereference

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:

USB: core: Fix access violation during port device removal

Testing with KASAN and syzkaller revealed a bug in port.c:disablestore(): usbhubtostructhub() can return NULL if the hub that the port belongs to is concurrently removed, but the function does not check for this possibility before dereferencing the returned value.

It turns out that the first dereference is unnecessary, since hub->intfdev is the parent of the port device, so it can be changed easily. Adding a check for hub == NULL prevents further problems.

The same bug exists in the disableshow() routine, and it can be fixed the same way.

The system was under memory stress where driver was not able to allocate an SRB to carry out error recovery of cable pull. The failure to flush causes upper layer to start modifying scsicmnd. When the system frees up some memory, the subsequent cable pull trigger another command flush. At this point the driver access a null pointer when attempting to DMA unmap the SGL.

Add a check to make sure commands are flush back on session tear down to prevent the null pointer access.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:

KVM: x86/mmu: Write-protect L2 SPTEs in TDP MMU when clearing dirty status

Check kvmmmupageadneedwriteprotect() when deciding whether to write-protect or clear D-bits on TDP MMU SPTEs, so that the TDP MMU accounts for any role-specific reasons for disabling D-bit dirty logging.

Specifically, TDP MMU SPTEs must be write-protected when the TDP MMU is being used to run an L2 (i.e. L1 has disabled EPT) and PML is enabled. KVM always disables PML when running L2, even when L1 and L2 GPAs are in the some domain, so failing to write-protect TDP MMU SPTEs will cause writes made by L2 to not be reflected in the dirty log.

syzbot reported the following uninit-value access issue [1][2]:

ncirxwork() parses and processes received packet. When the payload length is zero, each message type handler reads uninitialized payload and KMSAN detects this issue. The receipt of a packet with a zero-size payload is considered unexpected, and therefore, such packets should be silently discarded.

This patch resolved this issue by checking payload size before calling each message type handler codes.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:

kprobes: Fix possible use-after-free issue on kprobe registration

When unloading a module, its state is changing MODULESTATELIVE -> MODULESTATEGOING -> MODULESTATEUNFORMED. Each change will take a time. ismoduletextaddress() and moduletextaddress() works with MODULESTATELIVE and MODULESTATEGOING. If we use ismoduletextaddress() and moduletextaddress() separately, there is a chance that the first one is succeeded but the next one is failed because module->state becomes MODULESTATEUNFORMED between those operations.

In checkkprobeaddresssafe(), if the second moduletextaddress() is failed, that is ignored because it expected a kerneltext address. But it may have failed simply because module->state has been changed to MODULESTATEUNFORMED. In this case, armkprobe() will try to modify non-exist module text address (use-after-free).

To fix this problem, we should not use separated ismoduletextaddress() and moduletextaddress(), but use only moduletextaddress() once and do trymoduleget(module) which is only available with MODULESTATELIVE.

Use After Free, Race Condition
CVSS:3.1/AV:L/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:

ipv6: fix race condition between ipv6getifaddr and ipv6deladdr

Although ipv6getifaddr walks inet6addrlst under the RCU lock, it still means hlistforeachentryrcu can return an item that got removed from the list. The memory itself of such item is not freed thanks to RCU but nothing guarantees the actual content of the memory is sane.

In particular, the reference count can be zero. This can happen if ipv6deladdr is called in parallel. ipv6deladdr removes the entry from inet6addrlst (hlistdelinitrcu(&ifp->addrlst)) and drops all references (in6ifaput(ifp) + in6ifaput(ifp)). With bad enough timing, this can happen:

1. In ipv6getifaddr, hlistforeachentryrcu returns an entry.

2. Then, the whole ipv6deladdr is executed for the given entry. The reference count drops to zero and kfreercu is scheduled.

3. ipv6getifaddr continues and tries to increments the reference count (in6ifahold).

4. The rcu is unlocked and the entry is freed.

5. The freed entry is returned.

Prevent increasing of the reference count in such case. The name in6ifaholdsafe is chosen to mimic the existing fib6infoholdsafe.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:

Bluetooth: L2CAP: Fix slab-use-after-free in l2capconnect()

Extend a critical section to prevent chan from early freeing. Also make the l2capconnect() return type void. Nothing is using the returned value but it is ugly to return a potentially freed pointer. Making it void will help with backports because earlier kernels did use the return value. Now the compile will break for kernels where this patch is not a complete fix.

Call stack summary:

[use] l2capbredrsigcmd l2capconnect ┌ mutexlock(&conn->chanlock); │ chan = pchan->ops->newconnection(pchan); <- alloc chan │ l2capchanadd(conn, chan); │ l2capchanhold(chan); │ listadd(&chan->list, &conn->chanl); ... (1) └ mutexunlock(&conn->chanlock); chan->confstate ... (4) <- use after free

[free] l2capconndel ┌ mutexlock(&conn->chanlock); │ foreach chan in conn->chanl: ... (2) │ l2capchanput(chan); │ l2capchandestroy │ kfree(chan) ... (3) <- chan freed └ mutexunlock(&conn->chanlock);

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:

wifi: iwlwifi: read txq->readptr under lock

If we read txq->readptr without lock, we can read the same value twice, then obtain the lock, and reclaim from there to two different places, but crucially reclaim the same entry twice, resulting in the WARNONCE() a little later. Fix that by reading txq->readptr under lock.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:

wifi: iwlwifi: mvm: guard against invalid STA ID on removal

Guard against invalid station IDs in iwlmvmmldrmstaid as that would result in out-of-bounds array accesses. This prevents issues should the driver get into a bad state during error handling.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:

fs/9p: only translate RWX permissions for plain 9P2000

Garbage in plain 9P2000's perm bits is allowed through, which causes it to be able to set (among others) the suid bit. This was presumably not the intent since the unix extended bits are handled explicitly and conditionally on .u.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:

idpf: fix kernel panic on unknown packet types

In the very rare case where a packet type is unknown to the driver, idpfrxprocessskbfields would return early without calling ethtypetrans to set the skb protocol / the network layer handler. This is especially problematic if tcpdump is running when such a packet is received, i.e. it would cause a kernel panic.

Instead, call ethtypetrans for every single packet, even when the packet type is unknown.
