When the Mozilla Updater is run, if the Updater's log file in the working directory points to a hardlink, data can be appended to an arbitrary local file. This vulnerability requires local system access. Note: this issue only affects Windows operating systems.
The Mozilla Updater can be made to choose an arbitrary target working directory for output files resulting from the update process. This vulnerability requires local system access. Note: this issue only affects Windows operating systems.
A vulnerability exists in the Windows sandbox where an uninitialized value in memory can be leaked to a renderer from a broker when making a call to access an otherwise unavailable file. This results in the potential leaking of information stored at that memory location. Note: this issue only occurs on Windows. Other operating systems are unaffected.. This vulnerability affects Thunderbird < 60.7, Firefox < 67, and Firefox ESR < 60.7.
The Firefox installer on Windows can be made to load malicious DLL files stored in the same directory as the installer when it is run. This allows privileged execution if the installer is run with elevated privileges. Note: This attack only affects Windows operating systems. Other operating systems are unaffected.
The Mozilla Windows updater modifies some files to be updated by reading the original file and applying changes to it. The location of the original file can be altered by a malicious user by passing a special path to the callback parameter through the Mozilla Maintenance Service, allowing the manipulation of files in the installation directory and privilege escalation by manipulating the Mozilla Maintenance Service, which has privileged access. Note: This attack requires local system access and only affects Windows. Other operating systems are not affected.
The Mozilla Maintenance Service helper.exe application creates a temporary directory writable by non-privileged users. When this is combined with creation of a junction (a form of symbolic link), protected files in the target directory of the junction can be deleted by the Mozilla Maintenance Service, which has privileged access. Note: This attack requires local system access and only affects Windows. Other operating systems are not affected.
An attack using manipulation of updater.ini contents, used by the Mozilla Windows Updater, and privilege escalation through the Mozilla Maintenance Service to allow for arbitrary file execution and deletion by the Maintenance Service, which has privileged access. Note: This attack requires local system access and only affects Windows. Other operating systems are not affected.
The Mozilla Maintenance Service can be invoked by an unprivileged user to overwrite arbitrary files with junk data using the Mozilla Windows Updater, which runs with the Maintenance Service's privileged access. Note: This attack requires local system access and only affects Windows. Other operating systems are not affected.
The Mozilla Maintenance Service can be invoked by an unprivileged user to read 32 bytes of any arbitrary file on the local system by convincing the service that it is reading a status file provided by the Mozilla Windows Updater. The Mozilla Maintenance Service executes with privileged access, bypassing system protections against unprivileged users. Note: This attack requires local system access and only affects Windows. Other operating systems are not affected.
The "Mark of the Web" was not correctly saved on Windows when files with very long names were downloaded from the Internet. Without the Mark of the Web data, the security warning that Windows displays before running executables downloaded from the Internet is not shown. Note: This attack only affects Windows operating systems. Other operating systems are unaffected.
The Mozilla Windows updater can be called by a non-privileged user to delete an arbitrary local file by passing a special path to the callback parameter through the Mozilla Maintenance Service, which has privileged access. Note: This attack requires local system access and only affects Windows. Other operating systems are not affected.
Use-after-free vulnerability in the FontTableRec destructor in Mozilla Firefox before 31.0, Firefox ESR 24.x before 24.7, and Thunderbird before 24.7 on Windows allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code via crafted use of fonts in MathML content, leading to improper handling of a DirectWrite font-face object.
The destructor function for the "WindowsDllDetourPatcher" class can be re-purposed by malicious code in concert with another vulnerability to write arbitrary data to an attacker controlled location in memory. This can be used to bypass existing memory protections in this situation. Note: This attack only affects Windows operating systems. Other operating systems are not affected. This vulnerability affects Thunderbird < 52.3, Firefox ESR < 52.3, and Firefox < 55.
An error in the "WindowsDllDetourPatcher" where a RWX ("Read/Write/Execute") 4k block is allocated but never protected, violating DEP protections. Note: This attack only affects Windows operating systems. Other operating systems are not affected. This vulnerability affects Thunderbird < 52.3, Firefox ESR < 52.3, and Firefox < 55.
Manually dragging and dropping an Outlook email message into the browser will trigger a page navigation when the message's mail columns are incorrectly interpreted as a URL. Note: this issue only affects Windows operating systems with Outlook installed. Other operating systems are not affected.
The Firefox installer allows Firefox to be installed to a custom user writable location, leaving it unprotected from manipulation by unprivileged users or malware. If the Mozilla Maintenance Service is manipulated to update this unprotected location and the updated maintenance service in the unprotected location has been altered, the altered maintenance service can run with elevated privileges during the update process due to a lack of integrity checks. This allows for privilege escalation if the executable has been replaced locally. <br>Note: This attack requires local system access and only affects Windows. Other operating systems are not affected.. This vulnerability affects Firefox < 69, Firefox ESR < 60.9, and Firefox ESR < 68.1.
A vulnerability was discovered where specific command line arguments are not properly discarded during Firefox invocation as a shell handler for URLs. This could be used to retrieve and execute files whose location is supplied through these command line arguments if Firefox is configured as the default URI handler for a given URI scheme in third party applications and these applications insufficiently sanitize URL data. Note: This issue only affects Windows operating systems. Other operating systems are unaffected.
A buffer overflow occurs when drawing and validating elements using Direct 3D 9 with the ANGLE graphics library, used for WebGL content. This is due to an incorrect value being passed within the library during checks and results in a potentially exploitable crash. Note: This attack only affects Windows operating systems. Other operating systems are unaffected.
A vulnerability was found in Perl. This security issue occurs while Perl for Windows relies on the system path environment variable to find the shell (cmd.exe). When running an executable that uses the Windows Perl interpreter, Perl attempts to find and execute cmd.exe within the operating system. However, due to path search order issues, Perl initially looks for cmd.exe in the current working directory. This flaw allows an attacker with limited privileges to placecmd.exe in locations with weak permissions, such as C:\ProgramData. By doing so, arbitrary code can be executed when an administrator attempts to use this executable from these compromised locations.
Broadcom RAID Controller web interface doesn’t enforce SSL cipher ordering by server
SSRF in Apache HTTP Server on Windows with modrewrite in server/vhost context, allows to potentially leak NTML hashes to a malicious server via SSRF and malicious requests.
Users are recommended to upgrade to version 2.4.62 which fixes this issue.
IBM InfoSphere Information Server 11.7 could allow a remote attacker to obtain sensitive information when a detailed technical error message is returned in a stack trace. This information could be used in further attacks against the system. IBM X-Force ID: 231202.
Improper input validation in AMD Crash Defender could allow an attacker to provide the Windows® system process ID to a kernel-mode driver, resulting in an operating system crash, potentially leading to denial of service.
An authenticated attacker is able to create alerts that trigger a stored XSS attack.
