An API session‑management flaw in products with the MikroTik RouterOS API enabled are vulnerable to a Insufficient Session Expiration vulnerability. This could allow active sessions to retain their previous permission set after inactivity timeouts or user‑group changes. As a result, an authenticated user whose permissions have been reduced may continue accessing information.
MikroTik RouterOS contains a weakness in its API authentication handling that lacks effective safeguards against excessive login attempts. The system does not enforce meaningful rate-limiting, account lockout, or source-based restrictions, allowing repeated authentication failures to proceed without defensive response. In some versions, a fixed per-connection delay is present, but it can be bypassed through concurrent sessions, resulting in continued high-volume attempts. This deficiency increases the risk that an attacker could eventually obtain valid credentials and gain unauthorized access to administrative services.
An issue in MikroTIk (SIA Mikrotikls, Latvia) RouterOS 7.21.x before v.7.21.4 and 7.22.x before v.7.22.2 allows a remote attacker to cause a denial of service via the unflatten() function in libumsg.so.

A misconfiguration in the default settings of MikroTik RouterOS 7 and fixed in v7.14 allows incoming IPv6 UDP traceroute packets.
A vulnerability was identified in MikroTik RouterOS 6.49.8. This vulnerability affects the function ASN1STRINGdata in the library nova/lib/www/scep.p of the component SCEP Endpoint. The manipulation of the argument transactionID/messageType leads to out-of-bounds read. The attack may be initiated remotely. The exploit is publicly available and might be used. You should upgrade the affected component. The vendor recommends to "use the latest v6.x or 7.x MikroTik RouterOS version, the reported issue should be fixed there."
A cross-site scripting vulnerability is present in the hotspot of MikroTik's RouterOS on versions below 7.19.2. An attacker can inject the javascript protocol in the dst parameter. When the victim browses to the malicious URL and logs in, the XSS executes. The POST request used to login, can also be converted to a GET request, allowing an attacker to send a specifically crafted URL that automatically logs in the victim (into the attacker's account) and triggers the payload.
Mikrotik RouterOS VXLAN Source IP Improper Access Control Vulnerability. This vulnerability allows remote attackers to bypass access restrictions on affected installations of Mikrotik RouterOS. Authentication is not required to exploit this vulnerability.
The specific flaw exists within the handling of remote IP addresses when processing VXLAN traffic. The issue results from the lack of validation of the remote IP address against configured values prior to allowing ingress traffic into the internal network. An attacker can leverage this vulnerability to gain access to internal network resources. Was ZDI-CAN-26415.
In MikroTik RouterOS through 2021-01-04, the hotspot login page is vulnerable to reflected XSS via the target parameter.
A buffer overflow was found in the MikroTik RouterOS SMB service when processing NetBIOS session request messages. Remote attackers with access to the service can exploit this vulnerability and gain code execution on the system. The overflow occurs before authentication takes place, so it is possible for an unauthenticated remote attacker to exploit it. All architectures and all devices running RouterOS before versions 6.41.3/6.42rc27 are vulnerable.
MikroTik RouterOS through 6.42 allows unauthenticated remote attackers to read arbitrary files and remote authenticated attackers to write arbitrary files due to a directory traversal vulnerability in the WinBox interface.
A vulnerability in the network stack of MikroTik Version 6.38.5 released 2017-03-09 could allow an unauthenticated remote attacker to exhaust all available CPU via a flood of TCP RST packets, preventing the affected router from accepting new TCP connections.
The MikroTik Router hAP Lite 6.25 has no protection mechanism for unsolicited TCP ACK packets in the case of a fast network connection, which allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (CPU consumption) by sending many ACK packets. After the attacker stops the exploit, the CPU usage is 100% and the router requires a reboot for normal operation.
The L2TP Client in MikroTik RouterOS versions 6.83.3 and 6.37.4 does not enable IPsec encryption after a reboot, which allows man-in-the-middle attackers to view transmitted data unencrypted and gain access to networks on the L2TP server by monitoring the packets for the transmitted data and obtaining the L2TP secret.
RouterOS provides various services that rely on correct verification of client and server certificates to secure confidentiality and integrity of communications. This includes OpenVPN, CAPsMAN, Dot1x (802.1X), among others.
The vulnerability lies in shared certificate validation logic which uses the system certificate store that is shared and equally trusted by all system services. This causes confusion of scope, allowing any certificate authority present in the system-wide trust store to be trusted in any context (with some exceptions), allowing partial or full authentication bypass in CAPsMAN, OpenVPN, Dot1X and potentially others.
Mikrotik RouterOs before stable v7.6 was discovered to contain an out-of-bounds read in the snmp process. This vulnerability allows attackers to execute arbitrary code via a crafted packet.
The web server used by MikroTik RouterOS version 6 is affected by a heap memory corruption issue. A remote and unauthenticated attacker can corrupt the server's heap memory by sending a crafted HTTP request. As a result, the web interface crashes and is immediately restarted. The issue was fixed in RouterOS 6.49.10 stable. RouterOS version 7 is not affected.
MikroTik RouterOS stable before 6.49.7 and long-term through 6.48.6 are vulnerable to a privilege escalation issue. A remote and authenticated attacker can escalate privileges from admin to super-admin on the Winbox or HTTP interface. The attacker can abuse this vulnerability to execute arbitrary code on the system.
MikroTik RouterOS before 6.43.12 (stable) and 6.42.12 (long-term) is vulnerable to an intermediary vulnerability. The software will execute user defined network requests to both WAN and LAN clients. A remote unauthenticated attacker can use this vulnerability to bypass the router's firewall or for general network scanning activities.
Mikrotik RouterOS RADVD Out-Of-Bounds Write Remote Code Execution Vulnerability. This vulnerability allows network-adjacent attackers to execute arbitrary code on affected installations of Mikrotik RouterOS. Authentication is not required to exploit this vulnerability.
The specific flaw exists within the Router Advertisement Daemon. The issue results from the lack of proper validation of user-supplied data, which can result in a write past the end of an allocated buffer. An attacker can leverage this vulnerability to execute code in the context of root. . Was ZDI-CAN-19797.
An issue was discovered in the Winbox service of MikroTik RouterOS long-term release v6.43.13 through v6.49.13 and stable v6.43 through v7.17.2. A patch is available in the stable release v6.49.18. A discrepancy in response size between connection attempts made with a valid username and those with an invalid username allows attackers to enumerate for valid accounts.
MikroTik RouterOS 6.40.5, the SMB service contains a memory corruption vulnerability. Remote, unauthenticated attackers can exploit this issue by sending specially crafted packets, triggering a null pointer dereference. This leads to a Remote Denial of Service (DoS), rendering the SMB service unavailable.
The Mikrotik RouterOS web server allows memory corruption in releases before Stable 6.38.5 and Long-term 6.37.5, aka Chimay-Red. A remote and unauthenticated user can trigger the vulnerability by sending a crafted HTTP request. An attacker can use this vulnerability to execute arbitrary code on the affected system, as exploited in the wild in mid-2017 and later.
