A Spring MVC or Spring WebFlux application running on JDK 9+ may be vulnerable to remote code execution (RCE) via data binding. The specific exploit requires the application to run on Tomcat as a WAR deployment. If the application is deployed as a Spring Boot executable jar, i.e. the default, it is not vulnerable to the exploit. However, the nature of the vulnerability is more general, and there may be other ways to exploit it.

A flaw was found in maven. Repositories that are defined in a dependency’s Project Object Model (pom), which may be unknown to users, are used by default resulting in potential risk if a malicious actor takes over that repository or is able to insert themselves into a position to pretend to be that repository. The highest threat from this vulnerability is to data confidentiality and integrity.

Remedy

To avoid possible man-in-the-middle related attacks with this flaw, ensure any linked repositories in maven POMs use https and not http.

CKEditor is vulnerable to a denial of service, caused by a regular expression denial of service (ReDoS) flaw in the dialog plugin. By sending a specially-crafted regex input, a remote attacker could exploit this vulnerability to cause a significant performance drop and results in a browser tab freeze.

CKEditor is vulnerable to cross-site scripting, caused by improper validation of user-supplied input. A remote authenticated attacker could exploit this vulnerability to inject malicious script into a Web page which would be executed in a victim's Web browser within the security context of the hosting Web site, once the page is viewed. An attacker could use this vulnerability to steal the victim's cookie-based authentication credentials.
