XSS
AV:N/AC:H/Au:N/C:N/I:P/A:N

Cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerability in PHP, possibly 5.2.7 and earlier, when displayerrors is enabled, allows remote attackers to inject arbitrary web script or HTML via unspecified vectors. NOTE: because of the lack of details, it is unclear whether this is related to CVE-2006-0208.

Path Traversal
AV:N/AC:L/Au:N/C:P/I:P/A:P

Directory traversal vulnerability in the ZipArchive::extractTo function in PHP 5.2.6 and earlier allows context-dependent attackers to write arbitrary files via a ZIP file with a file whose name contains .. (dot dot) sequences.

AV:N/AC:L/Au:N/C:P/I:P/A:P

PHP 5 before 5.2.7 does not enforce the errorlog safemode restrictions when safemode is enabled through a phpadminflag setting in httpd.conf, which allows context-dependent attackers to write to arbitrary files by placing a "phpvalue errorlog" entry in a .htaccess file.

PHP 5 before 5.2.7 does not properly initialize the pageuid and pagegid global variables for use by the SAPI phpgetuid function, which allows context-dependent attackers to bypass safemode restrictions via variable settings that are intended to be restricted to root, as demonstrated by a setting of /etc for the errorlog variable.

Buffer Overflow
AV:N/AC:L/Au:N/C:C/I:C/A:C

Heap-based buffer overflow in ext/mbstring/libmbfl/filters/mbfilterhtmlent.c in the mbstring extension in PHP 4.3.0 through 5.2.6 allows context-dependent attackers to execute arbitrary code via a crafted string containing an HTML entity, which is not properly handled during Unicode conversion, related to the (1) mbconvertencoding, (2) mbcheckencoding, (3) mbconvertvariables, and (4) mbparsestr functions.

AV:N/AC:L/Au:N/C:P/I:N/A:N

Array index error in the imageRotate function in PHP 5.2.8 and earlier allows context-dependent attackers to read the contents of arbitrary memory locations via a crafted value of the third argument (aka the bgdcolor or clrBack argument) for an indexed image.

CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:H/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H

An issue was discovered in PHP 5.x and 7.x, when the configuration uses apache2handler/modphp or php-fpm with OpCache enabled. With 5.x after 5.6.28 or 7.x after 7.0.13, the issue is resolved in a non-default configuration with the opcache.validatepermission=1 setting. The vulnerability details are as follows. In PHP SAPIs where PHP interpreters share a common parent process, Zend OpCache creates a shared memory object owned by the common parent during initialization. Child PHP processes inherit the SHM descriptor, using it to cache and retrieve compiled script bytecode ("opcode" in PHP jargon). Cache keys vary depending on configuration, but filename is a central key component, and compiled opcode can generally be run if a script's filename is known or can be guessed. Many common shared-hosting configurations change EUID in child processes to enforce privilege separation among hosted users (for example using modruid2 for the Apache HTTP Server, or php-fpm user settings). In these scenarios, the default Zend OpCache behavior defeats script file permissions by sharing a single SHM cache among all child PHP processes. PHP scripts often contain sensitive information: Think of CMS configurations where reading or running another user's script usually means gaining privileges to the CMS database.

session.c in the session extension in PHP before 5.2.13, and 5.3.1, does not properly interpret ; (semicolon) characters in the argument to the sessionsavepath function, which allows context-dependent attackers to bypass openbasedir and safemode restrictions via an argument that contains multiple ; characters in conjunction with a .. Unspecified vulnerabilities in PHP, probably before 5.2.0, allow local users to bypass openbasedir restrictions and perform unspecified actions via unspecified vectors involving the (1) chdir and (2) tempnam functions. NOTE: the tempnam vector might overlap CVE-2006-1494.

Race Condition
AV:L/AC:H/Au:N/C:C/I:C/A:C

Race condition in the symlink function in PHP 5.1.6 and earlier allows local users to bypass the openbasedir restriction by using a combination of symlink, mkdir, and unlink functions to change the file path after the openbasedir check and before the file is opened by the underlying system, as demonstrated by symlinking a symlink into a subdirectory, to point to a parent directory via .. (dot dot) sequences, and then unlinking the resulting symlink.

Code Injection, Integer Overflow
AV:N/AC:L/Au:N/C:C/I:C/A:C

Integer overflow in PHP 5 up to 5.1.6 and 4 before 4.3.0 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code via an argument to the unserialize PHP function with a large value for the number of array elements, which triggers the overflow in the Zend Engine ecalloc function (Zend/zendalloc.c).

The deserialization code in PHP before 4.3.10 and PHP 5.x up to 5.0.2 allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service and execute arbitrary code via untrusted data to the unserialize function that may trigger "information disclosure, double-free and negative reference index array underflow" results.

The safe mode checks in PHP 4.x to 4.3.9 and PHP 5.x to 5.0.2 truncate the file path before passing the data to the realpath function, which could allow attackers to bypass safe mode. PHP 4.x to 4.3.9, and PHP 5.x to 5.0.2, when running in safe mode on a multithreaded Unix webserver, allows local users to bypass safemodeexecdir restrictions and execute commands outside of the intended safemodeexecdir via shell metacharacters in the current directory name. The parsestr function in PHP 4.x up to 4.4.0 and 5.x up to 5.0.5, when called with only one parameter, allows remote attackers to enable the registerglobals directive via inputs that cause a request to be terminated due to the memorylimit setting, which causes PHP to set an internal flag that enables registerglobals and allows attackers to exploit vulnerabilities in PHP applications that would otherwise be protected.

PHP 4.x up to 4.4.4 and PHP 5 up to 5.1.6 allows local users to bypass certain Apache HTTP Server httpd.conf options, such as safemode and openbasedir, via the inirestore function, which resets the values to their php.ini (Master Value) defaults.

AV:N/AC:L/Au:N/C:P/I:P/A:P

PHP before 4.4.3 and 5.x before 5.1.4 does not limit the character set of the session identifier (PHPSESSID) for third party session handlers, which might make it easier for remote attackers to exploit other vulnerabilities by inserting PHP code into the PHPSESSID, which is stored in the session file. NOTE: it could be argued that this not a vulnerability in PHP itself, rather a design limitation that enables certain attacks against session handlers that do not account for this limitation.
