Using the AES-128-CCM algorithm for IPSec on certain Palo Alto Networks PAN-OS® firewalls (PA-7500, PA-5400, PA-5400f, PA-3400, PA-1400, and PA-400 Series) leads to unencrypted data transfer to devices that are connected to the PAN-OS firewall through IPSec.

This issue does not affect Cloud NGFWs, Prisma® Access instances, or PAN-OS VM-Series firewalls.

NOTE: The AES-128-CCM encryption algorithm is not recommended for use.

A Denial of Service (DoS) vulnerability in Palo Alto Networks PAN-OS software causes the firewall to unexpectedly reboot when processing a specially crafted LLDP frame sent by an unauthenticated adjacent attacker. Repeated attempts to initiate this condition causes the firewall to enter maintenance mode.

This issue does not apply to Cloud NGFWs or Prisma Access software.

Option 1: If you are not using LLDP, you should disable it to mitigate this issue by performing the following steps in your web interface: 1. Select Network > LLDP. 2. Open LLDP General settings. 3. Disable (uncheck) LLDP. Option 2: You can disable LLDP for your network interfaces by performing the following steps in your web interface: 1. Select Network > Interfaces and select the interface you wish to disable LLDP for. 2. Select Advanced > LLDP. 3. Disable (uncheck) LLDP.  Option 3: If you are using LLDP only to advertise information about your PAN-OS device to other neighboring devices, you should set the LLDP mode to transmit-only for the profile used on your network interfaces by performing the following steps in your web interface: 1. Palo Alto Networks is aware of claims of multiple vulnerabilities in hardware device firmware and bootloaders included in our PA-Series (hardware) firewalls.

It is not possible for malicious actors or PAN-OS administrators to exploit these vulnerabilities under normal conditions on PAN-OS versions with up-to-date, secured management interfaces deployed according to the best practices guidelines (https://docs.paloaltonetworks.com/best-practices/10-1/administrative-access-best-practices/administrative-access-best-practices/deploy-administrative-access-best-practices). Users and administrators do not have access to the BIOS firmware or permissions to modify it. An attacker would need to first compromise the system and then get the root Linux privileges necessary to perform these actions before they could exploit these vulnerabilities. These vulnerabilities themselves do not allow an attacker to compromise the PAN-OS software on the firewall.

None of the concerns are applicable to PAN-OS CN-Series, PAN-OS VM-Series, Cloud NGFW and Prisma Access.

Remedy

These vulnerabilities require an attacker to compromise PAN-OS software before they can successfully exploit it. The risk of exploitation on PAN-OS software is reduced by upgrading your appliances to the latest versions. Additionally secure access to the management web interface by restricting access to only trusted internal IP addresses according to our recommended best practice deployment guidelines (https://docs.paloaltonetworks.com/best-practices).

Remedy

While the conditions required to exploit these vulnerabilities are not available to users protected by PAN-OS or administrators of PAN-OS software, we are working with the third-party vendors to develop any firmware updates that may be needed. We will provide further updates and guidance as they become available.

This issue is fixed in Cloud NGFW on or after 8/15 on Azure, Cloud NGFW on or after 8/23 on AWS, and all later Cloud NGFW versions. You should also revoke the secrets, passwords, and tokens that are configured in all server profiles of affected PAN-OS firewalls (Device > Server Profiles) after upgrading PAN-OS.

Prisma VS Code a VSCode extension for Prisma schema files. This is a Remote Code Execution Vulnerability that affects all versions of the Prisma VS Code extension older than 2.20.0. If a custom binary path for the Prisma format binary is set in VS Code Settings, for example by downloading a project that has a .vscode/settings.json file that sets a value for "prismaFmtBinPath". That custom binary is executed when auto-formatting is triggered by VS Code or when validation checks are triggered after each keypress on a .prisma file. Fixed in versions 2.20.0 and 20.0.27. As a workaround users can either edit or delete the .vscode/settings.json file or check if the binary is malicious and delete it.

As of today, we are not aware of any Prisma users or external consumers of the @prisma/sdk package who are affected by this security vulnerability.
