User interaction is required to exploit this vulnerability in that the target must visit a malicious page or open a malicious file. The specific flaw exists within the parsing of checkpoints. The issue results from the lack of proper validation of user-supplied data, which can result in deserialization of untrusted data. An attacker can leverage this vulnerability to execute code in the context of the current process.

PyTorch is a Python package that provides tensor computation. Prior to version 2.10.0, a vulnerability in PyTorch's weightsonly unpickler allows an attacker to craft a malicious checkpoint file (.pth) that, when loaded with torch.load(..., weightsonly=True), can corrupt memory and potentially lead to arbitrary code execution. Version 2.10.0 fixes the issue.
