A flaw was found in source-to-image as shipped with Openshift Enterprise 3.6. A improper path validation of tar files in ExtractTarStreamFromTarReader in tar/tar.go leads to privilege escalation.
GlusterFS and NFS network filesystems rely on File System User ID and Group ID information in order to restrict access to file shares. However it's possible to overwrite the Openshift restrictions on container UserId and GroupdId as they are not validated before being sent over the Openshift Networking. An attacker could use the flaw to read and write any data on the network filesystem.
A vulnerability exists in the garbage collection mechanism of atomic-openshift. An attacker able spoof the UUID of a valid object from another namespace is able to delete children of those objects.
