A vulnerability was found in the way RemoteMessageChannel, introduced in jboss-remoting versions 3.3.10, reads from an empty buffer. An attacker could use this flaw to cause denial of service via high CPU caused by an infinite loop.
Withdrawn Advisory This advisory has been withdrawn because the vulnerability only affects the Qpid Proton C library and not org.apache.qpid:proton-j. This link has been maintained to preserve external references.
Original Description
While investigating bug PROTON-2014, we discovered that under some circumstances Apache Qpid Proton versions 0.9 to 0.27.0 (C library and its language bindings) can connect to a peer anonymously using TLS even when configured to verify the peer certificate while used with OpenSSL versions before 1.1.0. This means that an undetected man in the middle attack could be constructed if an attacker can arrange to intercept TLS traffic.
Buffer overflow in ncurses library allows local users to execute arbitrary commands via long environmental information such as TERM or TERMINFODIRS.
Buffer overflow in ncurses 5.0, and the ncurses4 compatibility package as used in Red Hat Linux, allows local users to gain privileges, related to "routines for moving the physical cursor and scrolling."
rsync, when running in daemon mode, does not properly call setgroups before dropping privileges, which could provide supplemental group privileges to local users, who could then read certain files that would otherwise be disallowed.
Kerberos FTP client allows remote FTP sites to execute arbitrary code via a pipe (|) character in a filename that is retrieved by the client.
The Internet Group Management Protocol (IGMP) allows local users to cause a denial of service via an IGMP membership report to a target's Ethernet address instead of the Multicast group address, which causes the target to stop sending reports to the router and effectively disconnect the group from the network.
Buffer overflow in efstools in Bonobo, when installed setuid, allows local users to execute arbitrary code via long command line arguments.
Format string vulnerability in startprinting() function of printjob.c in BSD-based lpr lpd package may allow local users to gain privileges via an improper syslog call that uses format strings from the checkremote() call.
Buffer overflows in the (1) outpack or (2) buf variables of ping in iputils before 20001010, as distributed on Red Hat Linux 6.2 through 7J and other operating systems, may allow local users to gain privileges.
Buffer overflow in pamlocaluser PAM module in Red Hat Linux 7.x and 6.x allows attackers to gain privileges.
ping in iputils before 20001010, as distributed on Red Hat Linux 6.2 through 7J and other operating systems, does not drop privileges after acquiring a raw socket, which increases ping's exposure to bugs that otherwise would occur at lower privileges.
modprobe in the modutils 2.3.x package on Linux systems allows a local user to execute arbitrary commands via shell metacharacters.
Format string vulnerability in usesyslog() function in LPRng 3.6.24 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary commands.
Linux tmpwatch --fuser option allows local users to execute arbitrary commands by creating files whose names contain shell metacharacters.
tcl/tk package (tcltk) 8.3.1 searches for its libraries in the current working directory before other directories, which could allow local users to execute arbitrary code via a Trojan horse library that is under a user-controlled directory.
expect before 5.32 searches for its libraries in /var/tmp before other directories, which could allow local users to gain root privileges via a Trojan horse library that is accessed by mkpasswd.
Apache on Red Hat Linux with with the UserDir directive enabled generates different error codes when a username exists and there is no publichtml directory and when the username does not exist, which could allow remote attackers to determine valid usernames on the server.
Squid before 2.3STABLE5 in HTTP accelerator mode does not enable access control lists (ACLs) when the httpdaccelhost and httpaccelwithproxy off settings are used, which allows attackers to bypass the ACLs and conduct unauthorized activities such as port scanning.
slapd in OpenLDAP 1.x before 1.2.12, and 2.x before 2.0.8, allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (crash) via an invalid Basic Encoding Rules (BER) length field.
The default configuration of the DVI print filter (dvips) in Red Hat Linux 7.0 and earlier does not run dvips in secure mode when dvips is executed by lpd, which could allow remote attackers to gain privileges by printing a DVI file that contains malicious commands.
OpenSSH 3.0.1 and earlier with UseLogin enabled does not properly cleanse critical environment variables such as LDPRELOAD, which allows local users to gain root privileges.
Buffer overflow in glob function of glibc allows attackers to cause a denial of service (crash) and possibly execute arbitrary code via a glob pattern that ends in a brace "{" character.
Format string vulnerability in the default logging callback function saslsyslog in common.c in Cyrus SASL library (cyrus-sasl) may allow remote attackers to execute arbitrary commands.
LPRng in Red Hat Linux 7.0 and 7.1 does not properly drop memberships in supplemental groups when lowering privileges, which could allow a local user to elevate privileges.
Vulnerability in (1) pine before 4.33 and (2) the pico editor, included with pine, allows local users local users to overwrite arbitrary files via a symlink attack.
Buffer overflow in man program in various distributions of Linux allows local user to execute arbitrary code as group man via a long -S option.
Format string vulnerability in Mutt before 1.2.5 allows a remote malicious IMAP server to execute arbitrary commands.
Buffer overflow in (1) wrapping and (2) unwrapping functions of slrn news reader before 0.9.7.0 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary commands via a long message header.
licq before 1.0.3 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary commands via shell metacharacters in a URL.
